I sense there may be in 'catch' to this poll question, but, I'll take it at face-value and say, "No", I do not know of a single Republican (not even a RINO) who is calling for defunding any American police force.

All this 'defunding' mania is owned 100% by Democrats....

I hadn't heard any of Biden's people claiming this, which seems a surprising Hail Mary throw, on their parts. BUT, if we are talking about the CAPITOL POLICE, it definitely is the Republicans, not the Dems, who are dragging their feet in approving funding.

Jen Psaki said it. Funding that was voted on wouldn’t be available until next year so that had nothing to do with why Pelosi turned down help.

I read the beginning of the article (it named a male advisor, as well); I wasn't denying it-- read my post again. I was just saying that it seemed surprising they would even try to get away with such a long-shot. But my MAIN POINT had been concerning the CAPITOL POLICE, whose funding is already past due for approval. They have only managed to pay staff, to this point, through some kind of fiscal gymnastics, of which I don't the details. But, w/o approval-- being held up by REPUBLICANS in the Senate (the House passed it on Thursday, with no Republican votes)-- the Police meant to insure Congress's safety, will have to begin furloughing officers, next week.

I don't know what the part of your post's addition about Pelosi means, honestly, but this bill was for expanded funding, since, after the Capitol riot, the police had additional, unplanned expenditures (as for new equipment). So they've needed extra funds, or they will have to slash spending elsewhere, and that means officer salaries. So they'll have to do their job, short-staffed. That kinda makes all the rhetoric about DEMOCRATS not supporting the police, coming from Republicans in Congress, ring rather hollow; don't you think?

The funding they were voting on would not have been available on 1/6 so it is a moot point of political blaming. There was manpower available yet Pelosi did not approve of any help. Pelosi is in charge of the Capitol Police and now she is putting offices for Capitol Police in other states. How would that be possible if there was no funding?

Not at all since it is a solution looking for a problem. The Capitol was not fully staffed up that day and that is on Pelosi's shoulders. All help was turned down.

Can you link something that explains what you mean by, "All help was turned down," and which explains Nancy Pelosi's part in all this, because I have no idea what it is you are arguing. Also, I 'd appreciate your source for what your last post claims:
The Capitol Police, as far as I am aware, work only in the nation's Capitol, not the state capitols, if that is what you are suggesting. Again, on their own, the words, "putting offices in other states," do not have any clear meaning, to me. Are you saying that instead of just an office at the Capitol itself, they're going to have a nearby office in Virginia or Maryland? Or are you saying she's putting offices in California & New York (which I don't believe)? IF they are getting an additional office, I am sure there is a reason for it, probably explained by the report on the problems that arose on January 6th. That was what I tried to explain to you: because of the riot, it was decided the police needed additional things, to prevent a recurrence. The cost for those things came out of their regular budget, with the expectation that Congress would pass a supplementary funding bill, to account for the expenditures the police would be making, which were not anticipated, when its original budget was approved. Since this has yet to happen, they will soon be forced to cut back on whatever staffing they would normally have (so if it was already short, as you say, it will have to be even shorter!). The point is, until this new bill becomes law, the Capitol Police have to work with just the funds that have been allocated. But since these funds are being tapped for other things, deemed necessary, after January 6th, they don't have as much for staffing as they were intended to have. I hope that is now clear.
