Are you guys on the right okay with the former president saying this?

"Why can't you just shoot them in the legs?"

This is the claim made by former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. Now those if you were going to say he's lying because he's disgruntled employee for having been fired I don't buy that . For one thing he was expecting to be fired and he only stayed on the job to control Trump's worst impulses. This is a man who was a former Secretary of the army , Secretary of Defense a former Army Man, a West Point grad -- a straight shooter (excuse the pun) there's no way you're going to tell me this man is lying that just doesn't work for me. Trump said this and now you have to live with it

So here's the point of this OP are you guys on the right okay with a president of the United States attempting to order the military to shoot civilians? Yes they were protestors but that is irrelevant.

Esper said that he and others in the room found it shocking which is understandable because it is a shocking thing for a president to say this and it is also demonstrative of his Supreme unfitness for the office. If this doesn't convince you then nothing will.

I'm sure they'll just dismiss it with their "Deep State" Conspiracy theory. But I am also sure they KNOW he did say it.

I also suspect many of them, though most might not admit it, are perfectly fine with shooting them in the leg if they are protesting against "The Idol"

Of course they are okay with it.

    • They defend any cop that shoots a minority.

    • Yet, they defend the criminals at the Capitol riot that mob attacked hundreds of police officers.

    • They don't care that Trump negotiated with terrorists.

    • They don't care that our Afghani friends would be executed if we didn't offer them asylum.

    • They don't care that Trump received millions from China during his one term in office.

    • The don't care about COVID deaths unless they happened after Biden's inauguration.

    • They don't seem to be up in arms about Gaetz's questionable behavior surrounding human trafficking.

    • They don't care that babies are without their formula. @Bowerbird posted about 192 of them voting against that emergency bill.

    • They don't care that girls and women are going to die from trying to abort their own pregnancies or going to a back alley doctor to get it done.

    • They don't care that unwanted babies are going to be abused and neglected, probably sold for some quick case and much, much worse. You can't legislate nurturing.

Why would you need to ask this?

When you go google it, you get comments like "reportedly said" or "allegedly said". Does that answer your question?

By the right's continued support for Trump.

That's why. For me, it indicates a man who is unfit for the office, someone who has no business being in charge of the nuclear codes, and thus, if I were a Republican ( which I was, once upon a time) I couldn't vote for him.

Trump is not afraid to ask questions. No matter how stupid the question might be. The issue should not be whether he asked a question. The issue should be what action did he take. In this case, none. Case Closed.

A man who ask/suggests incredibly stupid, nay, shocking things, such as 'why can't we just shoot them in the legs?', or, 'we have nukes so why can't we use them?' indicates a person whose ignorance is so epic, so beyond the pale, so vastly substandard for someone the conduct and knowledge of which we would and should expect of a US President, such a person should never be allowed to run for office. Once in office, should be impeached for gross incompetence. There were numerous clues in the beginning, but the RNC did not have the spine to evict Trump from the party. Doing so would have forced him to run third party, where he could never have won. The RNC's spinelessness resulted in Trump becoming president, where it was inevitable a man of his low character and ignorance would pose a threat to US national security.

It's one thing to respect the will of the people, but 'the people' as history proves, can be fooled by a demagogue such as Trump, and we must draw the line when the nation's security is at steak.

It is a million percent better than what we have now. A person who makes no decision or waits until it is too late or makes wildly stupid decisions. The classic is the withdraw from Afghanistan. Or waiting so long on the baby formula problem that it developed into a crisis.

Geez, when the left isn’t deflecting threads by throwing Trump into everyone one of them, then the left is deflecting their own threads about Trump using racism (first bullet point) Everything you posted is either taken out of context or a lie.

    It's called brainstorming.

Am I OK with a President facilitating a brainstorming session with experts in order to solicit their feedback and ultimately make decisions based on that feedback? Absolutely.

    Hyperbole much?

If only that were true, which it is not.

If you believe otherwise, detail why you think it's true.

You can't, because it's not true.

Moreover, I doubt you even understand, fully, the context of when appeals to authority become a logical fallacy, because it's not always true.

Since you appear not to grasp that particular logical fallacy, I will include the following for your edification:

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...al-to-authority.591622/page-2#post-1073151126

There are a whole list of logical fallacies.

One of them is the 'appeal to authority' fallacy.

The problem I encounter with debaters on this forum and elsewhere is that those who sometimes counter an argument with "that's an appeal to authority logical fallacy" believing that they have successfully offered a valid counter argument sometimes fail to understand the correct application of that logical fallacy.

Just because someone uses an authority to support an argument doesn't automatically rebuke the argument.

"Appeal to authority" only becomes a logical fallacy when the argument is predicated solely on the appeal to authority.

Even then, it doesn't prove it's wrong, just as much as it doesn't prove it is right, it only suggests that it might be right, because an appeal to authority is better than an appeal to ignorance (or an unsubstantiated opinion).

That's altogether a different animal that using an appeal to authority to support one's argument, but not resting the veracity of the argument solely to that authority.

So, I can argue X is true, because Y said so, who is an expert.

That would be the appeal to authority logical fallacy.

Again, it doesn't prove it's true, it only suggests it might be true because an appeal to authority is better than a naked opinion or an appeal to ignorance. but, if I argued X is true, based on W data, and F data, and experts Y and Z have corroborated X in a peer reviewed paper, blah blah, I have a stronger argument than than "X is true solely because expert Y said so".

Too bad the majority of American people aren't with you. Biden is their pick for the worst president in American history. That is quite an achievement for him. I hope that he has enough cognition left to realize the honor that he has achieved. Is is unfortunate that the American middle and working classes had to be demolished for him to earn it.

Kind of weird how progressives are upset about what Republicans SAY and conservatives are upset about what Democrats DO.

No, brainfarting is more accurate, which is why I asserted he is unfit for office.

Brainstorming is fine, amongst competent men and women.

Biden is the victim of the pandemic, it's far reaching ramifications over which few could do much better, (noting that the things that Trump did was the reason why Biden won) and those polls don't prove anything.

The polls that did prove something was the simple fact he got 8 million votes than Trump.

How did the pandemic cause Biden to make stupid decisions on the withdraw from Afghanistan?
