I wonder if those media outlets and individuals who are critical of the administration for not using Islam as a descriptor for terrorists are falling into a trap set by those terrorists. Isis, and before them Al Quaeda, have long sought to simplify this as a struggle between Islam Western values. If they can turn this into a struggle between Islam and Christianity it will be easier for them to recruit followers, to gain financial support, to open centuries old prejudices, and may make it more difficult for Islamic countries to support the struggle against them. The death of Christians and the comments this weekend about Rome and Christianity clearly show they feel that depicting this as a struggle between Christianity and Islam will benefit them. Are we forgetting that currently about half the countries who are fighting ISIS are Islamic? Are we forgetting that most of their victims are Islamic. The question is, are we going to make it easier or more difficult to defeat them by making them the poster child for Islam?
I heard that argument in the last 48 hours. I don't buy it. I think it's just another ignorant Obama decision like the choice of whoever was in charge of choosing web designers to do the Obamacare website, his BIGGEST interest. Of course I could be wrong. Although the more Obama shows his dumb mistakes, the more convinced will a fair person become that Obama really is over his head in the job of President.
We need to continue to keep this a war within islam. When one's avowed enemies mostly kill each other, let them. So far, so good. I say that we arm both sides, and them shoot the last man standing.
