Are there EVER going to be more J&J vaccinations?

It's been just one screw-up after another -- especially here in Colorado -- with the J&J vaccine.

Does anybody have any good news about when anyone with any sense is going to take over the J&J vaccination process?

I was just reading about what happened at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Do you have the option of getting one of the other vaccines in your area?

Falling on deaf ears and blind eyes, it's not a vaccine.

The public are the test subjects, as the injection was released for emergency use only, for an emergency created by Fauci & Friends.

    Cheers!

They are doing a 20% delivery today I think for the coming week, but they seem to be having major issues. Moderna is the big provider in my area these days. At least that is what most people are getting. They have tried some pop-up one and done walk-in sites for the J&J around here but they have not been well received. I was told one of the sites had more workers than it had people come through in an entire day of being open. Anyway, there is a big push to get my city/county to herd immunity ASAP so we are being flooded with government provided free jabs.

Thank you for your courteous reply.

I'm frankly skeptical about what's going on with all the vaccines right now, maybe more than I should be, admittedly. The J&J screwups (multiple), and reports of people having bad reactions to the 'jabs' has been pretty off-putting, in addition to the nightmare of even trying to get dependable scheduling for the shots in the first place! At least, that's certainly been true in Colorado.

We do intend to get vaccinated... some day. But, at the rate everything is crawling along, beset as the 'processes' are with bureaucratic ineptness, accidents, and occasional stupidity, it'll probably be Memorial Day before we can get vaccinated and GET THIS THE HELL OVER WITH!

The lingering 'angst' about all this vaccine business is that there is the very real possibility that in six months "they" will be telling us that we need to go through the whole thing all over again, with some 'new-and-improved' vaccine.... After awhile, you just get inured to it, I suppose. But, it's better than dying by the thousands every day like the poor people are in the slums of São Paulo, Brazil.

[IMG]. "Sorry, Antônia... they said it's easier to die than to get a reliable vaccine appointment...." :cynic:

I was adamant that I would not take the Pfizer jab so when I found out that the moderna one was the one being administered through our local mass vax site, I went ahead and got one. I cannot say in good faith that there weren't any side effects to it. I had a moderate headache that evening, which I seldom get, I had some light-headed moments starting about 4 hours after the shot and throughout the next day, and I was just really fatigued starting the next day lasting for about 10 days. Mild stuff compared to who knows what would happen if I got the infection. It was a calculated risk. Nobody in my immediate blood line family had either the vax or the infection, but I did have a cousin get hospitalized a couple weeks with the infection. I get the second dose next week so I am kind of on pins and needles about that as it is supposed to be worse. I am the lab rat for my close gene pool I guess. If things go well, maybe others will follow. I totally get people who don't want it or want to wait and see. I have no issue with them. I think we all have to take stock of our situations and our lifestyles and make a rational choice that works best for us. I come into contact with a lot of random people in my work so I decided that it was better to go ahead and bite the bullet.

I definitely appreciate your feedback about your experience with Moderna. In January, we were all gung-ho to get the Moderna vaccine, but then all the delays started. Later, the J&J vaccine was approved, and after contrasting it with Moderna and Pfizer, we decided J&J would really be better for a variety of reasons. Then, once again, delays and screw-ups started with it, too....

Now, we're considering Moderna once again, but I've hoped that somebody in a position of authority could tell us a LOT more about the effectiveness of all these vaccines against the new wave of 'mutant strains' of the virus -- including the U. K. strain (which is now the dominant one in the U. S., I think), but also the South African strain, and the new terror from South America -- the Brazilian strain, which is reported to be much more contagious, and much more deadly than any of the others.

Meanwhile, it seems that more and more people are acting like the big danger is over, but, looking at the whole thing rationally, I am concerned that maybe it's still just in the process of really getting started! Plus, we've got tens of thousands of 'migrants' pouring in from Central America like a flood wave, and we KNOW that a lot of them are infected with all kinds of diseases, including this virus and its mutant strains.

A haunting old song from Donovan Leitch is the perfect accompaniment for all this, "Season of the Witch" --

We are probably at the end of the beginning and no further as to this pandemic. The brass ring is going to be finding a pharmacological treatment better than any we have now.

It really looks like J&J is having a rough go at it. Statistically, the numbers are not outrageous but still.

I guess it becomes outrageous only if it happens to oneself or a family member....

It's just been one big fugg-up after another with the J&J vaccine, and now it looks like it'll probably be sometime in summer before a reliable supply of safe, uncompromised J&J vaccine will be available. So, I guess it's time to turn to Moderna, although we would definitely rather have had J&J.

Almost from the beginning just four months ago, this whole vaccine thing in the U. S. has been like watching one of those comedy marathons on TV, featuring "The Three Stooges"....

    Oh, the fun never ends!

So, now that J&J is in hot water with the FDA and the CDC, you might think that you'd be better off with Pfizer or Moderna...? :juggle:

And, hey -- you might be just fine -- especially if you are not FEMALE.

Wow, that vaccine is so dangerous!

That so dangerous vaccine jab to stop COVID (1 in 850 of Americans) vs this vaccine is a cause for 1 in a million risk.

Similar risk of death also is the same as flying a commercial flight coast to coast, or driving 25 miles.

Avoiding the vaccine to risking COVID while unvaccinated is a suckers bet!

So, Fauci says that the 'wise men' are going to get together and make some kind of pronouncement about the J&J vaccine on Friday, April 23rd.

Prediction: they'll give the J&J vaccine an approval for everyone except females with a history of, or indicated susceptibility to, blood-clot issues and everything will go back to 'normal'.

I think I'm going to wait until toward the end of May before we try to get set for the J&J vaccine. I still prefer it to the others available in the U. S. for several reasons of my own, not least of which is that you don't have to interact with "The Three Stooges" bureaucracy to try to schedule a "second jab".
