    1-Free abortion

Hell no.. why should I have to pay for someone else being irresponsible?

    2--Free medical for illegal aliens
Life saving only. Then they are deported.

    3--Eliminating fossil fuels
    Voluntary reductions in use

    4--Free college and vocational school
No. Not my job to pay for your education

    5--More gun control laws

Nope the ones we already have are too much and unconstitutional and part of ofvthe liberal power grab

6--No secure border or border wall
We need to stop people from immigrating illegally

    7--Legalizing weed

    States rights issue

    8--Abolishing the Electoral College

Hell no, this is the second pillar of the liberal power grab

    9--Reparations
Hell no, why should I pay for wrongs done by other people decades before i was even born

    10--Taxing billionaires

    We already do that plenty

    11--End the death penalty

Nope, use it more with less appeals
Letting the guilty skate is just as bad as condemning the innocent

    12--Universal child care

No why should I pay for your kids?

    13--Allowing the incarcerated to vote
Nope, actions have consequences. Also a small part of the liberal power grab

14--Require equal pay certification for companies
Nope. Merit as determined by the employer is the only basis by which pay should be ascribed

    15--Rent relief for the poor
    Maybe a little
    16--Universal basic income

    Hell no..
    17--Increasing the Supreme Court justices
The last pillar of the liberal power grab

Just to be clear. A decade ago. Almost all of these were radical leftist ideas. That most Republicans and democrats agreed upon

Now most of them are the hopes of mainstream Democrats.

In short the Republican party stands right where it always has but the Democrats have moved further left.

By definition true centrists must br closer to Republican views than modern democratic views.

A true centrist would be an Independent - not a Republican or Democrat.

Republicans used to be more environmentally conscious, but that has come to screeching halt.
It's a centrist opinion that abortion should be legal up to a certain point in gestation (about 20 weeks).
It's a centrist opinion that gay marriage should be legal (about 60% of American voters agree).
It's a centrists opinion that global warming is due in at least part to human activities. (52% and 70% say it's happening).
It's a centrists view that health care is a major issue that the government will have to play a roll in solving. (62% of people agree).
It's a centrists point of view that the rich should pay higher taxes (about 76% of voters agree).
It's a centrist view that weed should be legal (technically, it can't be a state's issue unless the Feds decriminalize it.)

I'm not buying your argument that the Republican view is more centrist.

As an independent I’m going to ask forgiveness instead of permission and respond here...

    1. No. I have no desire to stop anyone having an abortion. But if it’s your business then it’s your business. Pay for it yourself.
    2. No.
    3. Sure. Why not. I can live without them. It would last as long as the average new year resolution. :) But don’t come crying to me when you are cold, hungry and bored.
    4. No. People don’t value or respect what they don’t earn. It would just be more opportunity for social engineering by taking advantage of immature minds.
    5. I support less laws regulating guns and more actual consequences for bad behavior.
    6. Secure the border with a combination of wall, tech, and consequences for offenders.
    7. Yep. Have no use for the stuff except as an agricultural fiber crop, but keeping it illegal is a violation of natural rights. Same goes for all other illegal drugs.
    8. No. Unless we dissolve the Union which I halfheartedly or threequarterheartedly support depending on my current cynicism meter reading.
    9. No. Geez.
    10. Sure. Ten percent flat tax for everyone. Balance the budget on the revenue brought in.
    11. No. Some crimes deserve the death penalty.
    12. What? No! If you don’t want to raise your kids don’t have any. Use birth control or abort them.
    13. Incarcerated? Hades no. That’s something you voluntarily relinquished when you did the crime. When you’ve done your time, full voting rights restored. Anything less is blatant hypocrisy from a humanistic or natural rights perspective.
    14. No. Compensation should be based on productivity, not gender. Offending businesses will be punished by the market. I don’t believe in law based on false premises anyway.
    15. Already have that. I’d prefer including teaching “how not to be poor” in government schools.
    16. No. It already exists for the poor. Why give money to people who don’t need it? Now if it would replace completely all other assistance it might be the lesser of evils. Besides. The amount is subjective. Giving everyone nothing is UBI. Giving everyone a blank signed check each month is UBI. It’s a foolish marketing gimmick.
    17. No. That’s as stupid as pure democracy. There’s no end to the abuse and it would quickly spiral out of control into ridiculousness.

umm centrist is not determined by the majority thinks..

a centrist is a person who is in the middle.. the extreme right on one side the extreme left on the other where the middle is is where the centrist is..

Republicans are mostly where they have always been but democrats have moved further left..

as for the environment Obama went off the rails with government regulation. trump has undone a fair bit of that but we have not gone backwards as a time frame of before Obama

I'd say that Trump isn't a real Republican at all.

He's just Trump and pretty much all he has going for himself is that he isn't a radical leftist like the Democratic candidates.

    1-Free abortion
NO. Keep it legal, but pay for it yourself. Its none of my business. Don't make it my business.

    2--Free medical for illegal aliens
No. I would charge them the cost of their deportation if possible.

    3--Eliminating fossil fuels
    No. Encentivise alternatives.

    4--Free college and vocational schools
Not in blanket fashion. In a limited manner, like free trade school for children of veterens, perhaps.

    5--More gun control laws
No. Though I would support trying new ones in exchange for getting rid of inneffective ones.

6--No secure border or border wall
    No.

    7--Legalizing weed
Yes. Entirely. Make it like dandelions.

    8--Abolishing the Electoral College
This will dissolve the union (which may turn out to be the only alternative to civil war- in which case, Yes).

    9--Reparations
Sure. Tax every ex-slave owner and give it to every ex-slave.

    10--Taxing billionaires
Simplify the tax code. Eliminate loopholes.

    11--End the death penalty
Unsure. Repeat violent offenders should not be in society. But the govt has not demonstrated that it can be trusted with the responsibility of execution, and we shouldn't be burdenned with incarcerating the unrehabilitable.

    12--Universal child care
No. But Yes to Universal Health Care for all under 18.

    13--Allowing the incarcerated to vote
Only after considerable demonstration of rehabilitation. And if they can vote, they can own guns.

14--Require equal pay certification for companies
Not sure what this is. If a company wants to discriminate, it should be allowed to. Though I would support some sort of mandatory signage stating their discriminatory practices so the market can accurately respond.

    15--Rent relief for the poor
Maybe. Better would be limiting the use of real estate as a means to store wealth.

    16--Universal basic income
    No.

    17--Increasing the Supreme Court justices
Why? No, until I hear a good reason.

1-Free abortion - On the abortion part - philosophically opposed to abortion but accept the idea from a realistic standpoint. Now, free abortion - a conundrum. My initial stance is that people need to pay for what they desire. Obviously, people that don't want children should be responsible and not create babies, but way too many people raised under the current paradigm are irresponsible. Forcing someone to have a baby has a good chance of costing the taxpayer far more money than an abortion would. Color me undecided on free abortion.

2 -Free medical for illegal aliens - No medical care, send them back home as soon as possible. The taxpayer is not responsible for and should not have to pay for the actions of illegal aliens.

3--Eliminating fossil fuels - Let the free market take care of it. Reasonable regulations regarding pollution are acceptable. Small amounts of taxpayer funding of research in alternatives are acceptable.

4--Free college and vocational schools - Not a taxpayer responsibility and it is ridiculous to think it is. Charity and scholarships can handle the "needy" via freedom. No governmental coercion required.

5--More gun control laws - I fully support the 2nd Amendment.

6--No secure border or border wall - Secure the damn border NOW. Immigration needs to be cut to a minimum.

7--Legalizing weed - Have never ever used illegal drugs and never will as it is a completely useless "hobby" in my opinion. But, I am not opposed to legalization. A couple of caveats: (1)No usage in public (2)No taxpayer payouts for welfare, medical, or rehabilitation for drug users. Let them reap the rewards of their poor decisions.

8--Abolishing the Electoral College - The founding fathers got it right.

    9--Reparations - No.

10--Taxing billionaires - Everyone should pay taxes, from the absolute bottom to the absolute top. The amounts are open to debate. A flat tax rate on income seems to be proper, again, the proper rate is debatable. A very good alternative to an income tax would be a federal sales tax, however I fear that would have a detrimental effect on the economy.

Sidenote: The fact that 44% of Americans pay zero income tax contributes to the divide in the population. 44% absolutely love and worship at the federal government alter because they get free stuff. Honestly, all citizens should have a healthy fear of a government, not be enamored with "Daddy G." Having everyone pay income tax would help to unite the public because we would then have something in common = damn federal government is taking too much of our money.

11--End the death penalty - Don't end it, expand it. Some criminals simply don't deserve to live in a society.

12--Universal child care - Not even. Make a baby, take care of that baby. When the taxpayer subsidizes poor decisions, the poor decisions will become more prevalent in society. This principle applies to all welfare. Government subsidies lead to more people taking advantage of the subsidies by participating in the irresponsible behavior.

Honestly, government is becoming a father figure for babies - single moms expecting handouts form the taxpayer? No, get a commitment from your perspective baby's father to help out. If he isn't going to, then don't let him get you pregnant. So simple....

13--Allowing the incarcerated to vote - Ridiculous.

14--Require equal pay certification for companies - What is this? Something about males and females? If so, employee pay is a private matter between the employer and the employee. Government needs to stay out of it. There are too many business-strangling regulations already.

15--Rent relief for the poor - Communism is not where we want to go. Again, subsidizing irresponsibility only leads to more irresponsibility. I would maybe agree to a taxpayer subsidized 10 foot by 10 foot shack and a sack of taters.

16--Universal basic income - Get outa here. As a taxpayer, I do not want to pay for millions of non-productive dufuses to sit around smoking pot all day. Of course, we do that now with our welfare payments.... so, I guess I need to see the math. If UBI would cost the taxpayer less than the sum total of eliminated welfare plans, well, I will go with the cheaper plan.

Note: For you productive people who pay for your own stuff and smoke pot, I have no problem with that.

17--Increasing the Supreme Court justices - Leave it alone. Otherwise, we will eventually end up with 800,000 Justices as the political parties alternate in seeking control.

    Answers from a republican . . .
    .
    1--Free abortion
Where would the money come from to pay the doctors? Some would come from people who are against abortions.
    2--Free medical for illegal aliens
That would cause a flood of illegals pouring into our country from all over the world. Who would pay? Those already paying for their own medical insurance would pay.
    3--Eliminating fossil fuels
No more airplanes, no more ships, no more cars, no more trucks, less fertilizer, no heating oil or natural gas, less generated electricity. The United States gets 81% of its total energy from oil, coal, and natural gas, all of which are fossil fuels. Ain't going to happen in the next 100 years.
    4--Free college and vocational schools
I will support this. K through 12 is free, just extend our free educational system. A great investment.
    5--More gun control laws
Not needed. We have laws against shooting people. More laws will just be "feel good laws" and end up restricting freedoms.
6--No secure border or border wall
Then our country will cease to exist. The wall has to help control our border.
    7--Legalizing weed
We don't need another legal intoxicating drug. Look at the people killed by drunken drivers and then add the ones killed by the pot head drivers.
    8--Abolishing the Electoral College
It works the way it's intended. It's a brilliant concept. Those who lose always want to change something to give them an edge.
    9--Reparations
To whom? Who pays? Who receives? An idea that is impossible to implement. Sounds nice but it's pandering.
    10--Taxing billionaires
Ask yourself why you are in favor of this. You will meet Greed and Envy face to face.
    11--End the death penalty
There are some crimes so heinous the criminal must lose their life.
    12--Universal child care
Who pays? Some paying will be paying who do not have children. Don't have children unless you can pay and care for them.
    13--Allowing the incarcerated to vote
Why? In some small town with a large prison the inmates could decide who runs the town. Dumb idea. You want to vote don't do the crime.
14--Require equal pay certification for companies
OMG! Let the bureaucrats decide how much you should be paid? Dumb idea. Anyone who has ever doled out raises in a company will tell you many factors can go into a person's pay.
    15--Rent relief for the poor
    We already have Section 8.
    16--Universal basic income
Oh yeah, pay people not to work. Watch our population swell from 350 million to a trillion. Let me work extra hard so I can pay someone to sit home.
    17--Increasing the Supreme Court justices
Leave well enough alone. There is no practical reason to add justices.

We've heard all of this garbage before, every one of these items only come up during elections then promptly disappear until the next election. If you want to win an election you have to have plausible solutions to actual problems not promises to act on trivial things. Trump knew this and is now the president and will be for four more years. Our only problem is where will we find another candidate like him who'll stay the course and not cave to the lunatics like much of the GOP has before Trump.

I am a republican and support none of that.

I would love to look over the salaries paid to the Supreme Court and see if they need raises though.

I am both a Reagan republican and a converted Trump republican. I too feared Trump was not the right man. I preferred to be blunt, several long term Republicans to be president and my worry was Trump was not about to deliver.

But he converted me. He has delivered. I am a true convert to Trump.

No Service or benefit ever provided by any government anywhere is ever FREE!!!Someone, usually a taxpayer, is paying for it,or it is being added to an ever growing national debt as about half the costs of our government services are each year.
As far as legalized pot we should look at the Netherlands which legalized it many years ago and is a now deeply regretting it as they have become a "NARCO STATE"known for the distribution of all forms of deadly narcotics distribution, around the world, and the crime and violence which accompany it.
