Just another one for the record.

"Officer Diab was approximately 30 minutes into the transport when the restrained inmate, 38-year-old Jamey Griffin, managed to gain control of the officer’s duty weapon inside the transport vehicle, according to WDAF."

(long story short- random civilians to the rescue!)

"“One of these men was armed and was able to defend himself and others without even firing his weapon just by pointing it at the suspect!” Weller wrote. “Because he had his weapon these men were able to grab the suspect pull him out of the car and hold him down on the ground until officers arrived on the scene.”"

Who in this situation 'didn't need a gun'?

How exactly does a secured and restrained inmate, who is confined to an entirely separate location of the transport vehicle from the law enforcement officer, even manage to not only unrestrain themselves, but also breach the physical divider between the two compartments in order to disarm the officer?

I'm guessing they weren't using the proper transportation. She was taking him to the hospital. Prolly just put him in chains and called it good.

"Since 2000, six U.K. cops have died from gunshots; in the U.S., 788. We have 11 times as many cops, but 130 times as many killed by guns. (The other two leading causes of police deaths are heart attacks and car accidents.)"

The extreme level of intellectual dishonesty that it takes to ignore most of the evidence while obsessively fixating on the few exceptions never ceases to amaze me.

What evidence is being ignored according to you?

You mean like the evidence that gun ownership likely prevents more crime than guns are used to commit? Individual cases like OP are important because theres no way to record or measure the true number of DGUs as the vast majority are never reported.

How many law enforcement officers are actually murdered by legal firearm owners, as opposed to individuals who are engaged in extensive criminal activity? Show the citations. Demonstrate the evidence.

One of the most common methods is to fake a severe medical condition and while Dep's are trained in handling such a situation, as such they know better they let emotion override common sense and come to the prisoners aid unshackling the prisoner because that's when the fight starts.

Back in 2007 a prisoner being transported to the Broward County courthouse did just that, the Dep summoned EMS and began administering CPR, this was recorded on an in vehicle camera.

Suddenly the prisoner began fighting with the Dep and got his gun at which time he murdered the Dep, EMS showed up found the dead Deputy and an empty transport van.

I was in West Hollywood hitting up pawn shops looking for any deals I could find on Motorola radios, earlier in the day I heard a BOLO in reference to the shooting, I was in a shop on 441 when a guy came also looking for deals, one of the local stations went into news about the shooting the guy was watching and noticed the booking photo, he stated to the counter guy "that guy they are looking for is sitting in my car, call 911," he left the store went to his car and came back into the store.

The store owner was trying to explain what was going on to dispatch, I was on a cell so I called direct number for Hollywood PD Dispatch and switched my radio over to Hollywood West and heard a number of West Side units advising they where in route to the pawn shop, literally within a minute there where 5 officers surrounding the car and many more where on the way.

I agree more so when someone leaves out relevant information, such as the fact during the same time period twice as many many UK officers are killed in the line of duty by being stabbed and or assaulted than shot.

I am always amazed by intellectual gymnastics performed by the Left to craft their narratives. What is the one you are pushing now?

And yet the Czechs have as low or lower rates of gun homicides and mass shootings despite very permissive gun policy. Shall issue concealed carry and modern sporting rifles indeed.

Clearly there is a third causal factor.

Yes... that there are other variables than the guns is obvious to many gun rights advocates and the 125 million gun law abiding owners in the US that don’t go around shooting people.

What about all the gun crimes that are never reported? Why is a homicide more likely to occur in the home of a gun owner? Why aren't all the DGU's you love to speculate about resulting in a decreased homicide risk? It just doesn't add up.

Even if true US cops are far more likely to be killed in the line of duty. Do the math. This happens despite all the armed civilians out there who are supposedly preventing crimes. Once again, the logic of gun apologists just does not add up.

Most "DGU's" are actually CGU's (criminal gun uses).

"We analyzed data from two national random-digit-dial surveys conducted under the auspices of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center. Criminal court judges who read the self-reported accounts of the purported self-defense gun use rated a majority as being illegal, even assuming that the respondent had a permit to own and to carry a gun, and that the respondent had described the event honestly from his own perspective.... Using data from a national random-digit-dial telephone survey conducted under the direction of the Harvard Injury Control Center, we examined the extent and nature of offensive gun use. We found that firearms are used far more often to frighten and intimidate than they are used in self-defense. All reported cases of criminal gun use, as well as many of the so-called self-defense gun uses, appear to be socially undesirable."
    https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/hicrc/firearms-research/gun-threats-and-self-defense-gun-use-2/

Once again, we see that gun apologists ignore most of the evidence while obsessively fixating on the few exceptions

"...frighten and indimidate..." who exactly? Would be criminals?

Biden recomended on national TV that if you think theres criminals about, you should just blast a shotgun in the air to scare em away.

While I disagree with Biden about warning shots because the bullet is still gonna go somewhere, using a firearm to 'frighten and intimidate' would-be criminals is the only effective way of protecting yourself that doesnt involve shooting them. I would think that would typically be the preferred option...

Even if such is the case, there is no evidence that the law enforcement officers in question are actually being murdered by legal firearm owners.

It is not evidence, it is speculation. Surveys are not scientific evidence, nor can be treated as such, as there is absolutely no way to verify the responses that have been given. Meaning there is no way of knowing whether or not the respondents are trolling those who are trying to contact them.
