No, we sort of quit the political war after the Eureka Stockade and then took those symbols into the workers unions

Nothing like a good old game of cowboys and indians based on the bloodthirsty history of the FSA
Imagine the furore if we had created a game called convicts and aboriginals..
Does that even enter your mind. Its a ridiculously impossible thought.
Americans seem to forget how their President at the time ensured the railroad from the east went west and linked up with the railroad from the west and how any and all land alongside the railroad was sold off to create
towns, and automatically kicking the indians to kingdom come. This is well documented for all to see
with a little googling, but they are in denial as all americans are.

The poll, made me had a good long hard think, whether I would feel "safer" in Oz with a concealed gun.
I almost put yes, then I thought, hang on, I actually do feel safe in Oz anyway, except when on the road, with idiot morons driving and texting, or driving under the influence of 'ice'.
That's scary, and no gun would prepare us for anything sudden such as a car accident. I would feel safer with a armoured tank on the road instead!
All that aside, we seem to be a gun-less culture here in Oz, and what encounter and how often would one have a need to draw a gun to feel safe, unless...

    1. A female walks alone in dark places in the dark of the night.
    2. A female that drink too much and get picked up by some random stranger who probably thinks would be an easy screw, and maybe not willing on her part.
    3. If for example, a chance encounter happens right there in front of me, a bank hold up, maybe a siege in a café, or some mad man running around in a busy city road with a knife, or some moron in a car driving on a footpath so suddenly one has to think of getting out of the way let alone draw a gun, and by the time one's shock mode has realized this, that car is too far away and people are all around for a gun to be drawn to be safe not to hurt some person standing in the way.

Add some pointers of your own, but, what chances do we have of something happening right there in front of us, chances are, never. If the majority had guns, then someone would encounter the chance to draw to protect either themselves or other innocents from some buffoon moronic idiot or extremist, and then, who wants it on their conscience of having shot someone dead? Maybe some hesitation, or maybe fear may provoke too sudden a drastic decision?
Those events happen far and few between and the only places are likely to happen are the busiest streets, in our inner cities, but then again, there are policemen/women with guns and batons, so they can be there asap with their back up and their guns.

So we have to feel safe because, our police have guns......and they don't often use them, and if they do, it effects them, I know of one that left the police force because it did effect him, that it is on his conscience for life that he killed someone. I did say, isn't it a case of saving innocents, or killing or being killed? Think of the ripple effect, you could have avoided a bigger disaster or more people dying.
