So I did one of these before but seeing as now I'm losing rights... It might be a good idea to help people understand transgender people by talking to someone who is transgender. So hello! My name is Kranes56 and I am mtf trans woman. I have been out for one and half years and on hrt for about a year now. If you want to ask me any questions about my transition or really whatever, comment below and I will answer them to the best of my ability!

Why do you think people identifying as trans is skyrocketing?

Im of the opinion that we're being bombarded by so many chemicals (like estrogen mimickers) that its causing biological sexual confusion- men and women being born with (or developing later) traits of the opposite sex, be they physiological, psychological or emotional. Essentially, we're all undergoing some level of unwitting hormone therapy, and those of us more susceptible to it and/or with higher incidental exposure are manifesting the effects.

My questions are more about your experience. It is mostly out of curiosity. What age were you when you first felt that you were truly female?

    How did it manifest?

What rights are you losing? The right to vote, the right to free speech, the right to bear arms, the right to join the military and fight for your nation? What rights are you losing?

You didn't explain what rights you were losing. What are those?

IIUC, she is (or soon will be) no longer able to be a 'she' in the military. She could still join, but only as a 'he.'

Although its possible that hormone therapy is becoming a disqualifier, Im not sure.

It's probably because more people are coming out into the open about being LGBT in the first place. I doubt it's anything biologically based. It's pretty much just that people are being who they want to be. I'm not too sure what if any correlation that kind of stuff has but I would very much doubt the causality.

Well the first time I knew something was off was when I was in 8th grade. We could dress up in Halloween costumes and for some reason I wanted to present as a woman. I didn't in the end but the feelings didn't go away. It wouldn't be until later that year that I put it together that I am transgender.

I would say something even simpler than that. The right to a home is the big one. The military ban is another but General Mattis is waiting for the RAND survey so maybe or maybe not there. Freedom of movement. That's a big one. Border patrol boards buses and I'm worried that they might try to pull me in for having a "fake ID". Freedom from want. Those are the ones that affect me the most.

Please see my response to Gatewood.

I'm not too sure about HRT. I think that it won't matter either way. I think the ban is against everyone who is trans.

I am on your side and I wish you luck , but I don't envy you this storm of intentional nastiness coming your way. Offering to educate this population is as heroic as it will be unpleasant. I did this kind of thing as a gay man on a right wing site before any ever thought about marriage rings. take a stiff drink.

Eh, I'm kinda used to it. The other day I had to explain to someone I don't sing because I'm trans. She was thrown back by that. But thank you, it means a lot.

I really did do some good when I did it. There were one or two rural conservative types who sincerely wanted to learn about this gay thing in the 1990's and had no one to ask who would not sneer at the questions. Now about the rest....

The real problem was toning down the friendly fire and sarcasm from the liberals so these guys would ask and not feel they had to 'defend' their position instead. They did not understand that I really was there to talk rather than debate.

Another site in the 1990's. I actually think one of them was young and gay despite his homophobic stuff.

Oh wow that was back in the days lol.

It's unfortunate that homophobia and transphobia exist in the LGBT community. It's dumb but at the same time I can get it.

So, @Kranes56 what was the most painful?

Was it cutting off the Willy? No.

    Was it the implants? No.

    So what was it?

Krames56: Having half my brains removed.

    Old joke, sorry. ;-)

Did you notice that when the O.P poster replied to me one Right listed was 'Freedom from want'? WTF? Where is THAT listed in the Constitution?

Unless I am mistaken, I understand you identify yourself presently as a woman. Are you interested in men or women for relationships? Is it both? Alternatively are you asexual?

If by chance you are interested in men I have a question. If not, I'd hope you could speak your opinion on what other transgender folks feel. Here is the question: If a man you are interested in rejects you because they want a woman who was not born a man, is that a bothersome preference? I mean a straight man having relations with a transgender is great, but is it hurtful when they want a more 'natural' woman?

Nah I get it. How are you? It's been forever since I had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing you again.

    The 9th amendment.

My sexual orientation is panromantic demisexual. Basically I feel like I can fall in love with anyone, but I need time to warm up to them if I want to have sex.

As for your second question, I was born a woman. I always was a woman. When men say that they don't want me because I'm trans I take that as meaning, they don't want me because they don't want to have sex with me. Now that's fine in of itself because nobody can force another person to have sex with them against their will. But when that is the sole reason for not dating? That's bigotry.

How would they know you are trans?

A side effect of being trans is the fear of being violently attacked for being trans. I let people know before we date that I'm trans.

It's a combination of the right to privacy and the right to property. It's the right to have a place unmolested by the public sphere where you can be yourself. Most people take it for granted. But for those that have lost their homes... They know what it's like.

I'm sorry, but I'm not following how being transgender has anything to do with a right to privacy, property, or having a place "unmolested by the public sphere." Are you saying you had your property seized because you were transgender?

While no TG has to my knowledge their property that they own taken away from them, there have been several lawsuits where a landlord forced TGs out by not renewing their lease.
