Is transgender a physical or mental issue?

Sexuality by nature is binary, there's an X and Y chromosome. A female has two X chromosomes and males have XY chromosomes. This is for reproduction. In your opinion, what chromosomes does a transgender have and does the state of mind overide the 'actual' physical?

Hi, thanks for taking to time to answer some questions

    I have a few questions
    1. How do you feel about under 16 transitioning?
    2. Which rights are you losing?
    3. How do you feel about Trans in the military?
    4. When you transitioned did you lose friends/family?
    5. Is Caitlyn Jenner a Hero?
    6. Jordan Peterson have you watched him? If so do you believe him to be Transphobic?
    7. In you dreams are you ever still a male? Or before you transitioned vice versa?
    8. Are you happier living as woman?
    9. How much did it cost to transition (Ball park figure)
    10. Do you feel Trump is good, bad or no change for the trans community? And is good/bad why? Which actual policies have effected you?

What's the best Trans film (Non porno lol) to watch? I saw

    was excellent and highly recommend.

It is an honest question to ask. If someone goes public about their ideas....it is fair game. Heck, Bruce Jenner was on the box of Wheaties. If he was to inspire little kids at one time yet still wants to be a public figure, questions about his deviation from the norm are certainly fair game. Especially if he is to lead others down his "primrose path"by example. He cannot pick and choose.

This is an erroneous question. Sexuality does not have a binary outcome. Gender replication does.

I personally do not agree that anyone can be anything they want, so there is that.

Ok, I have a question. Do you believe that actually transitioning, with either a sex change operation and/or hormonal treatments, should be required in order for someone to claim legal rights as a transsexual? Or is simply being a "drag queen" and wearing makeup and women's clothing enough?

While I will certainly let Kranes put forth her opinions, I do want to address some conceptual errors here.

First, typically those who are self identified as Drag Queens, rarely identify as transgender. Transgender is having an internal gender that is in opposition to one's birth sex. Most Drag Queens still identify as male. And while most are gay, not all are.

Secondly, not all transgenders need to have even basic hormone therapy in order to alleviate their Gender Dysphoria. For some, simply presenting as their gender is enough, no further treatment necessary.

Finally, a transgender has no more legal rights than anyone else. Transgenders have often found that their rights are violated, but they have no rights that you or I do not have.

    hmm, you contradict yourself

You say that drag queens (what about drag kings?) aka cross-dressers are not transgender yet they have sex with same-sex partners.

Those who claim to be transgender also have sex with same-sex partners

Sounds like gay sex to me; thus homosexual

You are making connections here that don't exist. One's sexual orientation is irrelevant to whether they cross dress or not. And while a majority are indeed homosexual, not all are. There are Drag Queens whose sexual preference is women. And yes Drag Kings who are only attracted to men.

First off, whether you are transgender or not has nothing to do with who you are attracted to. There are plenty of MtF trans women whose sexual preference is women. Now whether that is homosexual or heterosexual depends on whether you accept the person's gender or if you use their birth sex instead. It's one of the reason I would like to see us start using language that says we are attracted to men or women that is independent of the attracted one's sex/gender.

In regards to public bathrooms and public schools, it's simply if you say so. The lunatics running the asylum.

Other than that tiny matter of being in a position to be legally recognised as whatever/whoever they want, while the rest of us are obliged to run with reality.

    This raises a separate issuse
Many conservatives think of being gay or trans as a lifetyle “choice”. Given the inherent inconvenience and dangers... i just cannot see it as any decision a person would volumtarily choose. And if it is NOT a choice it seems cold hearted to intenionally make lfe harder... like by forcing people to conform to so called normal sexual life choices

    You know this how?

Lets say that a person is born with both male and female genitalia.... how is this 100% mental?

How is it we can be absolutely sure that a person cannot be born with some difference in their mind that predisposes them to be gay or transgender. After all, there have been such people across nations, culture and history. It is not some modern anerican invention

Like the rest of us, they can not just legally obtain those changes. There are still procedures and even a diagnosis required before such can be done.

No. Especially in this day where we are recognizing the various sexualities that exist, why shouldn't we just simply note a person is attracted to men, whether they are a man, woman or whatever? Or is attracted to woman? Or to both, or even nether? Is it important to note what their own gender/sex is?

We are NOT talking about hermaphroditism, we are talking about 'transgenderism'.

Minor differences in the level of sex hormones from one individual to the next is absolutely normal. And it's been around forever for the same reasons other diseases and mental illnesses have been around forever. Because they're afflictions of the human species.

Have you considered other possible causes? Chimeraism for example. In case you are unaware of what a human chimera is, it is a person who posseses two or more sets of DNA. Now technically, anyone who has had a transplant or blood transfusion is a chimera, but for the context we are talking about, the person is born with multiple sets. It is thought that the most likely cause is that fraternal twins are fertilized in the womb, but something happens and one absorbs the other. There are a few famous cases where people are mistakenly thought not to be a child's parent because the DNA didn't match. But when the DNA sample was taken from the genitals the match was made. Now in those cases, the individual had two sets of the same sex DNA. But we also know that fraternal twins can be an opposite sex pair. What do you think the person would be like if their genitals were set by one set of DNA and their head and mind by the other set?

Because it forces a default of an extreme minority (of crazy people, it should be noted) upon the rest of us.

And yes, because the GENDER of those we're attracted to is 100% of why we're attracted to them in the first place. It's not negotiable, or 'fluid'.

I haven't considered it because it's patently a desperate attempt to find 'reasons' which obviate personal responsibility for the mental health of others. Also, it's incredibly rare, and therefore entirely irrelevant to this conversation. Could also be alien abductions in childhood. Or magical pixies. Or a new species. Could be ANY of those things, but it isn't.

Seems to me that hermaphroditism is Pretty improbable. If we did not have examples, we would doubtlessly assure each other that hermaphroditism is in fact impossible. The ONLY way we know that hermaphroditism is in fact possible is because we see examples and it is therefore undeniable

And IMO, the same is true of transgender.... the only difference with transgender is that we have no physical manifestation similar to hermaphroditism. But, similar to hermaphroditism we have something that seems impossible.

we have a long history of examples of both transgender and hermaphroditism that confirms an improbable reality.... with the only difference that hermaphroditism has a physical manifestation which makes it undeniable despite its improbability

No, you got what I am trying to say backwards. Let's use a straight male and a lesbian female as an example. What difference does each of their genders make when dealing with the fact that they are both attracted to females?

Well, many people say that transgended people only exist based upon conscious personal choice

Let’s say such people see transgender as an artifact of the mind (personal choice) as opposed to, for example, some sort of hormonal imbalance. My point is that there is no obvious reason that transgender is NOT some sort of improbable organic phenomena... as opposed to a bunch of people who have made weird life choices

I have presented a perfectly logical medically sound possible explanation, not a mythical one. As to the rarity of it, that is in question. At one point we thought that miscarriages were relatively rare. It then was discovered that they happened a lot more frequently than we initially realized. Testing for chimaraism is not yet common, so we have no true idea of how rare it may or may not be. This is before we look at the fact that people way more qualified than you or me, who actually study this sort of thing, have determined that transgenderism is a true thing.
