Why would the water go there? How? Why didn't such an enormous quantity of water relatively suddenly moving deep underground (using some process never encountered in nature anywhere else) cause massive changes to Earth's ecology? Why didnt the flood itself cause massive changes to Earth's ecology? Why didn't the near-extinction of every race of creatures case massive changes to Earth's ecology? Why didn't the sudden injection of billions of tons of water into the planet's cause enormous mountain ridges or fissures or anything like that? Where did the rain COME from then if it didn't come from in there? Was it always in the atmosphere? If it was, why wasn't it constantly cloudy? Why wasn't the Earth a hothouse like Venus under all that cloud cover? Or did it come from undergound as well? If so, where? How? Why?

You clearly haven't thought this through I'm afraid.

    You're not wrong there.

Dear Jesus, you've failed to give a logical, intellectually consistent belief system to your followers, so you've failed. If you're a follower of this failure you'll obviously want to leave the cult, just like I did.

Okay, so Noah's Flood was an "actual event with exaggerations".....some localized flood of the Black Sea and a farmer put his wife, kids, and goats on a raft...

that got turned into a "world-wide flood, with every animal species on a 450 foot long boat"?

Okay....so could Jesus' "feeding of the multitudes with a couple of fish and a loaf of bread" have been "exaggeration" of a .....pot-luck supper?

Well if it was the black sea flood, it would have been a once in a lifetime type event, which would have influenced many cultures in the region. As far as the Ark, I think it is used as an example of new beginnings, and a story to teach based on the tragic events of the huge flood. I do not think there was an actual Ark, it is a literary tool. Much of the story has deep symbolism, including birds etc.

As far as Jesus feeding with a loaf of bread, I would bet it is the same kind of literary tool. This in no way disproves or proves Christianity, I think it just a different way of looking at the Bible then fundamentalist literal reading of the text.

The story about feeding the multitude with a couple of fish is interesting because throughout the Bible there are referenced to the word feeding people (spiritually) or water (again the word) quenching the thirst.

But that raises the question....was it an historical event....or merely an allegory used by the Apostles? IOW, there was no actual "miraculous amount of actual food" (fish, bread).....just "spiritual food" (i.e. making people feel better or come closer to God)?

At that point, how many more of Jesus' "miracles" become suspect?

Did anyone else notice the massive, evidence-lacking Gish Gallop in his second paragraph?

How exactly could that water (which is stored in other elements and is not in liquid form) reach the surface in sufficient quantities fast enough to flood the earth in a single catastrophic event?

I think what pisses off most of the faithful Atheists DO read religious books literally like many Evangelicals and then reading it that way rip it apart on two fronts on the factual side there's no supporting evidence of say The Exodus yet during the same period we have Greek Historians for one group not mentioning this even though they had contact with Egypt and many Greek scholars were in the region. And on Moral Grounds in that its an immoral text in many places of the book so as a text of morality it also fails. So we and Evangelicals are honest we read the book and then assume its what it is so we are honestly supporting that view so we can critically examine it.

It doesn't matter. His response would be "prove it couldn't" just like when he asked people to prove that an eclipse can't last 3 hours. Besides, it looks like he's banned. No use beating a dead horse.
