The state should not be involved in the naming of a child...

Traditionally parents name their children and use the last name of the father, mother, of a hyphenated version of the mother-father or father-mother.

That name would enflame the local muslim population. They would kill Allah in the name of Allah.

Who cares? But no one in their right mind or who was not looking for attention would name their child Allah. They could name their kid "manure" for all I care nor should the government as well.

Rhetorical question corrected to declarative statement: The state should not be involved in the naming of a child...

"Should the state be involved in the naming of a child?" asked by Publius_Bob. Good question, some nations do get involved and prevent monstrous stupidty, others not so much. I find it quite cruel that some parents can be so blatantly stupid in giving newborns the most ridiculous names possible. Naming a child Allah (god) is crazy.....I did a quick search of zany names people around the world have tried to name their children - it's unbelievable. It would be funny if it wasn't sad.........

I'd let the child grow up and then they can decide for him or herself whether they want something "different" in a name - like Ron Artest becoming Metta World Peace.....

Naming a kid Allah could make things dangerous for the child. Should parents be allowed to name their kid the N word?

I know two Hispanic men named Jesus. I don't know if it was done for attention, but was Sonny and Cher Bono's thinking any more pure in motive? Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a baby named "North' there are Gwyneth Paltrow's children "Apple" and "Moses"

    Alright, let's be clear.

If I have a child, and decide to name her "God" or "Allah", or... "Jesus", you should be able to hold a gun to my head and force me to choose another name, or take the child and name her yourself, or some **** like that.

    Is that what you're saying?

If that's NOT what you're saying, then shut up about the very idea of the state being involved in naming children, because to bring in the state IS to bring out the guns.

The dummies already have one kid named "Masterful Allah".

Bilal is the name of a character mentioned in the hadiths.

It's also interesting that in 2011 in New Orleans a couple by those names was busted for selling ecstasy pills. http://www.noladefender.com/content...s-busted-odd-future-get-their-kicks-city-park

...and I thought this guy had a funny name:

    ...but seriously, why:
    a) Calling child that way, is Allah some sort of traditional name in some culture? Or they just very zealous muslims or something..? Just curious.
    b) Why state even cares, naming child is not state's bloody business - if child comes to legally CHANGE the name, it will be state business, but only to extent of changing papers and verifying the new name.

Years ago, I had a kid whose first name was Master. That same year, we had another kid - he wasn't in my class, but his name was Teddybear. These were not nicknames; they were actually the given names on their birth certificates. So let's face it, some kid named Allah doesn't faze me in the slightest.
