Oh, please--there are pictures of trees falling over, too.

One of your pictures was a road in Tibet. You had no idea. Too funny.

There is no politically possible way to significantly reduce global CO2 emissions. Only a fool would require the US to do so without the Chinese government doing the same.

You realize trees cannot grow in permafrost, right? These are a result of discontinuous permafrost. That means this area has thawed out previously. It’s great for an appeal to emotion argument though, isn’t it?

Yep CO2 could be a problem, the bushfires have released over 400 million tons of CO2 and other byproducts of combustion gas's into the atmosphere.

Time to nuke Australia and shut down all the greenhouse gas pollution.

Given what you say, I don't understand why @Bowerbird is disagreeing with you!

That would be wrong, but it would make a great movie.

    :)
The underlying disagreement is the fact I want people to question things. That upsets people immensely, especially on this subject.

Let’s hold off until I can get over there and play with some of their unique wildlife. I’ll put the CO2 to good use in the meantime. :)

That’s an increase of 0.2 ppm. Tragic but small effect.

You require them to question their faith. That’s hard for them.

Although, you're convinced that AGW will lead to a pretty bad world, right?

No. And it is entirely rational to be optimistic.

No. In fact I’m convinced it’s essential if current human population is going to be maintained or increased. There will be changes, but the positive will far outweigh the negative. I’m actually very excited about how changes will affect me.

If that sounds selfish, consider the alternative of static or decreasing CO2 levels/temperatures and the human suffering such conditions would induce. It’s my job to feed you and the world. If you are going to increase the numbers of mouths to feed you are going to have to let me have the tools to feed them as well.

I’m not the kind of guy to scare easily. I suppose that’s why I question so much of the narrative based on fear and negativity. It seems like a majority of the time I dig into one of the fear marketing strategies it’s either based on false premises or misrepresentation of the cited “science”. I just can’t take strategy like that seriously anymore. What’s really fascinating is the pushback I get for pointing any of it out.

Are those trees on the bank of a frozen river ?? Looks like ~ 5 trees out of hundreds are leaning. What could that mean ??

Good call. I missed the possible body of water. These drunken trees are likely caused by ice wedges, common in areas of discontinuous permafrost.

You’re a thinker. What in hell kind of sense does the term discontinuous permafrost make anyway? Classic oxymoron, but in common usage. :)

Arsonists aren't as much of a problem as you appear to believe.

Now you want me to explain why trees might fall over if the permafrost under them thaws.

It could be erosion of a river bank as well.

Looked it up. Discontinuous means patches of permafrost. I watch the show Gold Rush and they run into areas of frozen overburden occasionally when excavating to get to the gold bearing gravel below. That’s discontinuous. Siberia apparently has continuous layer of permafrost a few feet below the surface.

That's too funny. You have no idea what they are or what they represent. It never occurred to you that all the photos were of roads ??
