The most relevant part of the article" "But a ban treaty has no support from the states that actually have nuclear weapons. The nine known nuclear states – the US, China, France, Britain, Russia, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea – all oppose a ban treaty."

    I know,
no reason to look the other way or to give up.
Just imagine we (all other nations which are nuc free) put some effort into it, wouldn't you love to live in a world without?
    Cheers

North Korea seems to be the only country detonating them these days and they are of little threat.

    They all did,
not too long ago (mid 1990s) France blew them up in the most beautiful parts in the world, for testing of course.
    They all did.
Yes I see NK as a threat to, but we should remember that the only country ever used them in war times was the US (not that it was necessary, the war was reaching its end anyway-WW2).
I don't trust anyone with nuclear weapons.
    Cheers

Should be at least pushing non proliferation.

Conservatives are always trying to align with the big boys. All it is are attempts at political capital in the laziest and cheapest form. They have become a sit on your hands and do nothing party to the point that they should disgust all Aussies. Take no risks or make no decisions, which gives little opportunity for anyone to complain is their philosophy....no doubts about it. Big Ted and Jemima may as well be party leaders.

Where will all that waste be stored if campaign is successful. In massive big glass containers six feet thick hopefully. Is sending it into space a viable option. You just don't want that crap seeping into our water ways or underground aquifers.
