It doesn't matter if slaves were valuable or not. The point is the guy's comments got enough of a pushback that he took it down. I don't understand why GOPers say absurd things then get upset when people call then out. Look if GOPers think slavery "wasn't that bad" perhaps they should live somewhere it is still practiced or sell a family member into it. I understand working Cotten has given way to women working as sex slaves. Perhaps the guy who made the comment has a daughter or niece who is available.... for a good price.

In 2013, Massachusetts State Senator Richard Ross introduced S787 in the House. The bill forbids divorcing couples who have children from engaging in sexual activities with other people unless they get court approval first. In fact, they can’t even go on dates with other people without an OK from a judge.

“In divorce, separation, or 209A proceedings involving children and a marital home, the party remaining in the home shall not conduct a dating or sexual relationship within the home until a divorce is final and all financial and custody issues are resolved, unless the express permission is granted by the courts.”

Charles Gaba — an ACA supporter and data Hoover — has been documenting the March surge, state by state on his Twitter account and his site, ACAsignups.net. Gaba has the best numbers out there, and has been accurately forecasting official enrollment statistics for weeks. He currently projects total exchange enrollment will hit 6.2 million by the end of the month, not counting enrollment in off-exchange plans, and puts the grand beneficiary total (including Medicaid beneficiaries and “young invincibles” on their parents’ plans) at 11.9-15.6 million as of Saturday. Conservatives are thus, to no one’s surprise, furiously attempting to “un-skew” his figures.

And, as Vanderbilt health policy and med school professor John Graves notes in Health Affairs, turnover is a major hallmark of the insurance market. People who lose or change jobs, and thus become temporarily uninsured, will be eligible for ACA enrollment, even after March 31. Medicaid, isn’t bound by open enrollment. As such, enrollment numbers will continue to grow throughout the election season. Exchange beneficiaries might even reach the elusive 7 million total this year, a few months late, but before

There is an extremist element that deem mindless, microscopic cellular amalgams to be actual persons and demand maximal State control of these entities - bureaucratic womb intervention and control.

All the bilge they spout derives from this bizarre notion.

They get in a tizzy when their agenda is bluntly stated, but that's it.

On Wednesday, the Kaiser Family Foundation released their updated health tracking poll and the results were not what the Republican Party wanted to see. Overall, it shows that Americans are not in favor of repealing the Affordable Care Act and are also sick and tired of the ongoing debate about health care, Basically, the majority of the American public accepts that the ACA is the law of the land, and that efforts should only be made to improve the law, rather than to repeal it.

53% of respondents to the poll stated that they are sick of the debate on the health care law and would like for our lawmakers to focus on other issues now. Meanwhile, 42% felt that the debate should continue. This shows that the appetite for Republicans focusing solely on Obamacare during their campaigns this election season is seriously waning. In fact, even Republican voters are getting tired of the continued focus on the ACA, as 47% want to move on to other things.

The group of Republican senators who support extending unemployment benefits are calling out John Boehner for blocking the Senate agreement that would help millions of Americans.

Politico spoke to the group of Republicans who debunked Boehner’s complaints:

“There’s a lot of things that the speaker doesn’t like that we do over here,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). “What we have out there is a fair proposal.”

Well yes it does as the context of what was stated.

What is absurd about the truth, reality?

He didn't say "slavery was not that bad" but it certainly wasn't "as bad" as some try to make. Yes it was fundimentally wrong, but what the candidate said is fundamental right, slaves were valuable property, assets of the owner. What don't you comprehend about that?

It is a widely held view among the medical community that gay conversion therapy is one hundred percent ineffective. If anything it causes more harm to the patient of the so-called therapy. Unfortunately, not everyone has received the memo. Scott Lively, one of the Republican candidates in the Massachusetts gubernatorial race wants to jail LGBT people who do not submit to the archaic conversion therapy.

    Conversion therapy or jail?

Scott Lively made his asinine remarks to the Editor-at-large of Huffington Post Gay Voices, Michelangelo Signorile. The interview was regarding Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act. Lively said he’s “very disappointed” that Uganda “fell back into punitive sanctions,” explaining that he “was urging them to focus on therapy and prevention.” When asked what would happen to people who did not want to submit to the therapy, he had this to say:

“Well then they would take whatever the other alternative is, which was probably going to jail,” he said. :steamed:

The term was "innocent human life"

I did not say he said this. I said it as it shows the stupidity of the claim "Its wrong to kill innocent human life"

Egg and cell are "human life"
All living human cells are "human life"

Is it not idiocy to suggest making laws that would ban killing this "innocent human life" ?

OK show me where he said all human cells are innocent human life.

You said that is what he believes so he must have said then for you to know that is what he believes. That ALL human cells are innocent human life. Please give me his exact statement.

    What is stupid about it.

An unfertilized egg in not "human life" a fertized egg which has begun the life cycle of that new unique human being is.

He makes no such leap in logic as you do. A fertilized egg is not ALL human cells.

The idiocy is in your logic.

It’s not every day that you get to watch Tea Party conservatives embarrass themselves on the House floor. Or wait, yes it is. Be that as it may, Michelle Bachmann and Louie Gohmert may actually have outdone themselves on March 26, 2014. :eyepopping:

Bachmann and Gohmert speak on the “unprecedented killer drugs” that are killing America.

There are certain things you can count on, any time Bachmann or Gohmert open their mouths. Both are well known for over the top theatrics and absurd bits of hysteria. On the other hand, neither is known for their great intelligence or habit of making sense when they talk. You can count on half truths and sometimes, like on this occasion, no truths at all.

Gohmert starts off speaking about how ‘an agency,’ made up of unelected officials will be able to determine what medications are covered and not covered under the ACA. Dire warnings and prophecies aside, Bachmann keeps voicing her agreement, the entire time Gohmert is speaking.

It’s as if she believes she’s attending some Pentecostal church revival, and not standing on the floor of the House of Representatives. “That’s right!” She keeps interjecting, “Yes it is.” Not that anyone really wanted to hear what Gohmert was saying, but Bachmann’s repeated interruptions took annoying to an entirely new level.

Gomert is right lefty. The IPAB, unelected officials, can make the call on what is and what is not covered. Look it up.

And Gomert's remarks notwithstanding, there are many doctors out there who feel certain drugs are deadly.

FYI. Be careful who you quote. You may make yourself look as silly as the fool you quoted.

President Obama provided a nuts-and-bolts budget discussion this morning in his weekly address, slamming Paul Ryan's joke of a budget presented this week, and extolling his own "Opportunity for All" budget he presented earlier this year.
He outlined the four-point approach in his own plan—job creation, job training, quality education and raising the minimum wage—and then let loose on Ryan's April Fools Day proposal:

The Republican budget begins by handing out massive tax cuts to households making more than $1 million a year. Then, to keep from blowing a hole in the deficit, they’d have to raise taxes on middle-class families with kids. Next, their budget forces deep cuts to investments that help our economy create jobs, like education and scientific research.
Now, they won’t tell you where these cuts will fall. But compared to my budget, if they cut everything evenly, then within a few years, about 170,000 kids will be cut from early education programs. About 200,000 new mothers and kids will be cut off from programs to help them get healthy food. Schools across the country will lose funding that supports 21,000 special education teachers. And if they want to make smaller cuts to one of these areas, that means larger cuts in others.

But we do get to see Reid and Pelosi and Jackson-Lee and Schumer and Dodd and host of Democrats do it on a daily basis.

And of course he lied about it as usual. Ryan's cuts tax rates while eliminating deductions, he didn't mention that did he. And Obama got his tax increase and he increase spending over a trillion his first two years and has kept it there so what does he need even MORE money for through higher tax rates?

It's time to get a working budget that helps put people back to work so we don't have to spend so much on EITC and child credits and food stamps and unemployment rather than insuring those cost go up as with Obama.

Please explain exactly how the Ryan budget will do that. It's the working people who are the job creator. If they have money they will spend money and create demand thus jobs. Top down economics have been proven not to work. What fantasy land are you living in?
