I dont get this one, we all watched the Television show Cops right?

Police helicopters chase a suspect, cops on the streets catch the person or police using planes to catch speeders in rural areas ..

What is the problem here, they dont want safe streets in Baltimore?

Baltimore civil rights groups oppose aerial surveillance pilot program

Civil rights groups in Baltimore voiced their opposition to a pilot program announced by the police department Friday that would involve three surveillance planes flying over the city in an effort to stem violent crime.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland and the Coalition for Justice, Safety and Jobs issued a joint statement that said the program is a “fateful step” that will “impact the privacy rights of Black and Brown residents for generations to come.”

The statement said the airplanes would put every Baltimore resident under permanent surveillance.

And how long will it be before they say that they cannot afford to use the planes anymore, so they will start using surveillance drones instead?
    Slippery slope.

That's what I was thinking also why are they even using airplanes, when they could just use drones .. why are the cops even announcing it?

It keeps reminding of this story of what they are scared of.

In 1985, another confrontation ended when a police helicopter dropped a bomb on the MOVE compound, a row house in the middle of the 6200 block of Osage Avenue. The resulting fire killed eleven MOVE members, including five children, and destroyed 65 houses in the neighborhood.

Aerial surveillance is a tool whites used to subjugate blacks.

How is that worse, really? If they're gonna use them to buzz over your backyard, then by that time, a warrant would've been secured or exigent circumstances already existed by the time the drone was deployed.

I don't see a problem with this, it's nearly the same thing as having a police car drive up and down your street. It will also provide the exact same evidence of a crime taking place as cameras similar to the ones in ATM machines, security cameras in businesses, etc.

If you look at Virginia, they want to aggressively target gun owners up to the point of possibly using the National Guard to enforce their anti 2nd Amendment laws. But if that exact same proposal was made in Chicago, Detroit, etc, then the ACLU would call them discriminatory.

Keep in mind it was the ACLU who was hollering about the police needing body cams up until those body cams proved the police to be right, then the ACLU argued those body cams were invading people's privacy.

I really don't like what the ACLU has turned into.

    Which is funny because:
    1) When you speak to anyone in public there is no privacy.
    2) When you speak to the LEO in your home you have given them consent to speak with you.
    3) You don't have to speak with the police, when you do so it's a consensual.

Baltimore civil rights groups oppose aerial surveillance pilot program

    The correct headline should read

    Baltimore civil rights groups
accept a new city record for murders

Actually the aerial surveillance is nothing compared to what the federal and state gov’ts have planned for Baltimore and 6 other crime riddled cities.

Baltimore police are teaming up with state and federal agencies on a three-year initiative to fight violent crime, gangs and the drug trade.

Tuesday marked the kickoff of the city’s participation in the National Public Safety Partnership, a federal crime-fighting program with the U.S. Justice Department.

This is no different than police cameras to document interactions.

The narrative was that cops were randomly shooting or beating blacks, so measures were taken-and supported by leftist groups like the ACLU-to mandate police wearing cameras.

Turns out the cameras actually showed police being lenient, while capturing footage of violence against police, lies, etc.

So the same lefty groups wanted cameras taken away.

I wonder if they really can comprehend this?

Protest this because the last thing Baltimore needs is more law enforcement. (sarcasm off)

'Neighborhoods are crying out': Baltimore has highest homicide rate of U.S. big cities

    https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/bs-md-ci-fbi-data-20180924-story.html

Baltimore homicide rate is on a record high, deadlier than Detroit and Chicago

Just another liberal created and managed crap hole with residents and politicians that are hell bent on keeping it a crap hole. They voted for what they have.

Using technology that enhances human sight.

It's legal for law enforcement, from a public vantage point, to look at someone's home, property or person using eyesight alone. Enhancing normal human sight to surveil falls within the definition of a search in the Fourth Amendment and requires a warrant.

    Every person? Permanently ?

Looks like hyperbole or just your common lie by liars.

How is this any different from cameras on the streets? And those are here to stay.

Personally it reeks of 1984 the dystopian novel . But they are monitoring public places. Just keep the govt out of my home.
