Ah, the religion of peace and tolerance demonstrates both again today as they invade our Embassy in Egypt in protest over a Dutch film critical to Mohamed.

I also note BoBo turned down an emergency meeting with Israel...

Our leadership is so very competent.

Storming an embassy over a FILM! Unreal. The true insanity of religion is starting to become more evident every day.

    From USA Today:
"Iran's FARS news agency says the film is the work of a group of "extremist" members of the Egyptian Coptic Church in the United States.
Al Ahram online says the film is reportedly being produced by U.S.-based Coptic-Christian Egyptians, including Esmat Zaklama and Morees Sadek, with the support of the Terry Jones Church in the United States.
Jones is the evangelical pastor who stirred controversy last year by threatening to burn a Quran in public.
CNN says the film in question is a Dutch production.
The AP says clips of the film available on YouTube show the prophet having sex and question his role as the messenger of Godâ??s words."

It's not the insanity of religion that stormed the US embassy in Cairo, FreedomSeeker - it's the insanity of some Egyptian Muslims...

I would point out that the protestors were Salafists (Al-Qaeda sympathisers) and that the Egyptian military took over from the inadequate police and cleared the protestors from both the Embassy grounds and immediately outside Embassy property. Whether this is a sign of things to come or just a bunch of extremists catching the government by surprise is hard to say.

Islamism must be fought on every front!

Now are Islam and Islamism two separate entities, that is left up for another debate.

I disagree...Every time the issue is 'resolved'...as in attacking Arab armies are routed, we begin the drumbeat for concessions and negotiations frittering away the advantage won in the wars.

Those who are so tormented with agony over apparently having their prophet insulted obviously have no issue with hurting the feelings of the many people remembering the victims of 9/11 by vandalising the flag at half mast. Replacing it with a flag with the Muslim creed is surely blasphemous but where is the outrage from the majority of Muslims?

I can honestly say that these (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiots shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Apologies on behalf of the saner part of the populace, who are by the way probably more pissed of about this then I am, talk about shooting yourself in the (*)(*)(*)(*)ing foot.

    One faithhead attacking others, eh?

Regardless, this is a clash of cultures and ideas. Their reality is such that Mohammad is sacred and the whole world must be made to respect that. They don't see the matter from our perspective, so of course they react differently to how we do. I suppose they truly expect our government to censor people like Terry Jones, because they don't have our concept of separation of church and state, the right of freedom of expression, and so forth. Their behavior is barbaric and silly to us, but only because we had some very wise secular-minded leaders once upon a time who established a great nation with some extraordinarily forward-thinking principles, and we've held onto those principles dearly. Fundamentalist religion is certainly a threat to those principles, whether it's Islam or fundamentalist Christianity - such faiths place their gods and their doctrines above all else. They are authoritarian, dictatorial, and about as far removed from the free secular society that was established here more than 200 years ago as can be.

Quote of the day! Never hear a peep out of them do we? Not one American-muslim ever comes forward and denounces their insane acts. They know they will probably have their heads cut off if they speak up. They don't want to anyway. They secretly rejoice at seeing the American flag desecrated, but they wouldn't trade living anywhere else but America for anything.

They shouldn't be getting a cent of our money.

I don't believe this is anything to do with a film, that's just an excuse. This is the first I've heard of such a film in the making and it just so happens its the anniversary of 9/11. Lets face it this is the natural consequence of not standing up to these stupid episodes previously. Now again we have the US making daft statements about respect for religious sensitivities which only legitimises such supposed sensitivities. In my mind its becoming increasingly obviuous that its not about genuine hurt but about exercising power. Now even a rumour about a film can shake the US into making statements. I don't agree much with the ex Danish PM Anders Fogh Rasmusssen but he was quite right to refuse to sink to meeting with ambassadors over the Mohammed caricatures.

Now a US consulate in Libya has been burnt down. What a stupid circus has been nourished by a lack of steel.

Completely agree - the film is just an excuse. At least the Dutch are defiant.

Wait, the issue has ben resolved...we apologized...

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others'

That solved it...though we did leave out apologizing for not making our flag more flammable.

As a Muslim apologist who lives in Egypt (we hereby dub you our official politicalforum.com Egyptian religious correspondent!) can you please tell us exactly where that film gets Mohammad wrong (if any)?

If the film is false, then it should be condemned....if it's true, then it should be praised, REGARDLESS of whether or not it "insults" Mohammad. He's dead, after all. The truth is what we should seek.

For instance, the film shows him as suicidal, and the Islamic texts back that up (when he went up to that mountain), so where is that wrong? If a person is suicidal, doesn't that exclude him from being stable enough to be chosen by the alleged most intelligent being (Allah) of all time as the one "final" prophet for all time? Obviously Allah could have found someone else who wasn't suicidal! Or did Mohammad just simply INVENT the entire religion, to increase his political, economic, and sexual power? Which seems more likely?

"My kingdom is not of this world", "Render unto Ceasar, that which is Ceasars", "Obey all authorities instituited among men". The Christianity in the bible has nothing to do with government.

    ON THE OTHER HAND

[2.193] And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah...

5.44] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unbelievers.
[5.45] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unjust.
[5.47] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the transgressors.

Ruling by Islam is the most frequent issue discussed in Quran after the belief and creed. Therefore, Khilafah was discussed by many Muslim scholars, the following are the definition of some of them to Khilafah.

1: Ibn Khaldoon defined it as: A representation, of the one who has the right to adopt the divine rules, aimed at protecting the Deen and ruling the world (Dunia) with it.

2: Al-Mawirdi defined it as: Succession of the Prophethood aimed at protecting the Deen and ruling the world (Dunia).
    http://alkhilafah.net/s1.html

632 to the 1920s the Islamic Caliphate ruled most of the Islamic world and since then weve had a large segment of muslims who fight to bring it back.

And a big enemy of peaceful international relations is populations who feel that storming foreign embassies is ever an appropriate response.

We are being played just like the Arabs.. Why do you suppose the film was released on the anniversary of 9-11? And WHO did it?
