Munnsville woman allegedly high on 'bath salts' dies after attacking child
    http://www.cnycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=764982#.T9l50LWwUz7

MUNNSVILLE -- A Madison County woman alleged to be high on drugs is dead after assaulting her child and receiving a Taser shock while she struggled with police.

There's some great video interviews with witnesses.

This was a pretty disturbing story. According to one article I read on the matter, she was swinging her child in a circle, simultaneously beating the child while laughing. She later started beating up on a pit bull. If the other stories I read on this article are true, this lady had had heart stints from a recent surgery, which probably contributed to her death after being tased. Very unfortunate... but what do you do?

There's something seriously wrong in our society that drives people to use mind-altering drugs.

Imagine the chaos if large segments of the population were exposed to such destructive drugs at once. It'll be like a real Zombie Land. All of these recent episodes could be field trials for something really sinister.

I agree. As I've said numerous times here on PF, I think we should lean towards treatment as opposed to incarceration for users, but we should never allow flat out legalization of all substances. Imagine a society where you could buy pcp, meth, crack, etc at the corner gas station. No thanks! I'll pass on that!

I have seen a bunch of people come through the ER high on bath salts. That is some nasty stuff. People truely don't know what is going on and what they are doing. We had to hold this big fat hairy naked guy down and he was fighting and pissing all over everyone. Good times.

I don't know what the best alternative is. But I'm concerned about the new designer drugs because they can easily be used as chemical weapons once they are perfected. They might be our downfall.

Perhaps. I've just never heard of anyone bashing in a kids head or eating a guys face after taking LSD.

    That's quite disconcerting.

A bit off topic here, but one fear I have is of a contagious virus (naturally occurring or not) which literally turns humans into sociopathic nutters. It seems plausible to me. It's really not that far fetched.

Me either. I've had my own bad experiences with LSD, but never to the point of eating another person's face, let alone lifting a finger in anger.

Imagine what would happen on a Sunday football day if 60,000-80,000 people in stadiums across the country went nuts from the effects of a drug like bath salts. It would be devasting, especially if other areas were affected at the same time. This might be the new war weapon of the future being tested right now. How could you control something like that?

Since the wigged out people have been usually killed I'm not sure if anyone even knows how they got the stuff in the first place.

Usually you have a bad trip and see scary (*)(*)(*)(*), end up hiding in a closet or under your covers till you come down. That's also why you should be responsible when doing drugs. Have a spotter.

Wow, bizarre but interesting read. I'm pleased the child is apparently alright.

    Thanks WofG.

I am amazed @ what people subject their body/mind to, more so, knowing the potential negative effects. *sigh*
