Watched it in the theater when it came out and watching it again on Amazon. Watching it again I wondered how many of the aircraft were real. It was obvious the Stuka dive bombers were models and many of the aircraft destroyed on the ground were not real so I looked it up.

Germany made some serious mistakes. One was requiring all bombers being able to dive bomb which made the Heinkel heavier and unable to carry larger loads. No long range bombers. The Messerschmitt 109 suffered from a big engine and no room for more fuel for long range.

I still think the Spitfire was one of the more elegant aircraft of WWII but nothing could match the performance and range of the Mustang.
