And Cornyn is up for re-election in 2020, leaving Beto with a substantial war chest to run against him.

That's just how the New Democratic Party operates.

Place a shiny object in front of it's followers and tell them to go wild. What is interesting is the war chest Beto has built up is not from Texans, but from Hollywood and other outside elites.

    Smoke and mirrors.

DNC threw tons of ca$h into Georgia's special election too. Smashed campaign spending records. Ossoff was the DNC darling ... failed. Don't mind watching Dems piss away their money on lost causes though ... God knows they've pissed away a lot of mine.

I really hope there aren't enough globalist imported into Texas to turn Texas blue. It would be a shame if the people of Texas voted for democrats who hate them, to govern them.

California is bleeding citizens to Texas, but not enough to threaten Cruz

Hopefully, we'll get to primary Cornyn and replace him with a more conservative candidate.

I don't see how anybody thought O'Roark had a chance. The same voters who vote for the Senate race are voting for the governor race. Abbot is leading Valdez by about 20 points. I don't think too many of those Abbot voters will be voting for O'Roark.

Loser once, loser twice. Robert Francis O'Rourke is the Elizabeth Warren of Texas.

Some of the political and economic refugees from california bring their failed liberal idelogy with them

    But many others do not

They want no part of the liberalism that ruined their home state

Cornyn is not as popular among conservatives as Cruz is

I think there could be a strong challenger in the 2020 primary for cornyn

Sad Trombone: Curtains for Media Heartthrob 'Beto' O'Rourke in Texas?....

Robert 'Beto' O'Rourke is a media darling. The press has showered him with almost as much glowing coverage as liberals across the country have showered him with donations. He's been swooned over as 'Kennedyesque,' but not for the most applicable reason. And not too long ago, a handful of polls showed him neck and neck with Sen. Ted Cruz in red Texas. Things appeared to be tight enough that national Republicans poured reinforcements into the race, hoping to highlight O'Rourke's extraordinary liberalism. He is pro-impeachment, pro-late term abortion, pro-gun control, and voted against a House resolution supporting ICE. It was a cinch, therefore, to conclude that a Senator O'Rourke would have been a Chuck Schumer loyalist by voting to block Justice Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Might the Kavanaugh firestorm have helped focus the minds of some Texas voters, now that they've been vividly reminded of what's at stake in the United States Senate? Quite possibly. I recently mentioned that a source close to the Cruz camp told me that their internals were tracking close to a ten point lead. We then noted an in-progress New York Times survey showing Cruz's advantage on the cusp of double-digits. And here's Quinnipiac appearing to confirm the state of the contest:

    Texas Senate poll (Quinnipiac)

    Cruz (R) 54%
    O’Rourke (D) 45%https://t.co/m4VyappCYp

    — Steve Kornacki (@SteveKornacki) October 11, 2018 …..snip~

All that publicity and money the left has poured into Texas.....only to see Cruz pull away and go up by 9 and trending up still. This one the Demos wanted so its going to hurt them once Cruz wins.

The Repubs don't have to worry about the Senate now. They will be adding 4-5 more seats there.

The Senate was never in much doubt.

The House is in real danger.

Now that the House has results and Meat to go after the Demos with. Its looking like the Demos will come up short by 2 or 3. They didn't count on Illinois losing 2 seats due to population loss.

I mean trying for another senate seat after you lost the first to Cruz.

Texans need to watch out, displaced Californians love the low taxes in TX but they also bring with them far too liberal ideals. i.e. Washington and Oregon.

Losers end up being dumped by the media. O-Rourke's political career dies unless he can come close to Cruz--say within 4 points.
