Just because one is Catholic does not mean one is not Utilitarian. You use this justification for Law quite often. You must really hate the principles of Republicanism and the founding principles in general ;) :deadhorse:

Now is respect for individual liberty "authoritarian" ? Now you are just being obtuse for the sake of being obtuse.

It is Utilitarianism that can lead to authoritarianism - and that what you base your beliefs on ... not Moi.

Utilitarianism is also a favorite ideology of Liberals so - while I do not fit into that category - you do.

    :confuse:
I don't care what you label your messed up ideology. The fact of the matter is that it is Utilitarianism - changing the label will not change this fact - nor will it change the fact that your ideology is an anathema to Republicanism and the founding principles - nor will it change the fact that this is a communist/totalitarian ideology.

Wrong. Republicans never promise free health care, free college, free anything. The only thing Republicans promise (but never deliver) is freedom.

I am not interested in promises or platitudes spouted by our political clown show on either side of the fence - the question is what do they do ?

I have never seen free healthcare promised - that is absurd - you pay for it through taxes one way or the other. What we need to do is go to single payer. We spent 3.5 Trillion in 2017 on healthcare. This is roughly double what other first world nations pay. For something that is supposedly "Free" - 2.5 Trillion would be a whole lot less than 3.5 !

This is what many conservatives are saying - not Libs - https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-conservative-case-for-universal-healthcare/

At the end of the day the question is "how much does the gov't collect and give to someone else through wealth redistribution" - much of which goes to pad the pockets of the Oligopolies - Healthcare, Military, Bankers and so on.

The measure of this is the deficit - and Republicans have a horrific track record with regard to running deficits - Reagan and Trump are the worst offenders.

An intriguing claim I suspect the present Holy Father in Rome may support. However, the Roman hierarchy, especially those who’ve stepped into Cardinal Pell’s shoes would be down on their knees praying your assertion never took hold in the Vatican.

Not sure how Cardinal Pell figures into the issue. Regardless - the rock on which Jesus based his ministry was the Golden Rule = do unto others as you would have done to you.

In other words - if you don't want others forcing their religious or personal beliefs on you through physical violence (Law) - don't do this to others.

The idea that one must believe in totalitarian ideology (with respect to law) in order to be Catholic is silliness.

Pretty sure that Koch brothers want universal healthcare so that they don't have to pay it for their own employees.... making them billions more dollars. The rich only support things that make them personally richer. The Koch brothers want more open and increased immigration. They share much in common with Silicon Valley oligarchs. These are the people who desire demographic replacement...... billionaire white people..... they are the people who seem to always get what they want. If billionaires want universal healthcare, you damn sure know that it will eventually come.

Universal healthcare would not necessarily mean that the KOCH brothers would not have to pay for it. They would have to pay less - as taking the Oligopolies out of the equation saves a huge amount of money - over 1 Trillion if done properly.

That is the same reason I want it - I want to pay less - not more. 3.5 Trillion in 2017. That is near equal to the entire Federal spend.

Not sure if you enjoy getting bent over and sodomized - each to his own - I for one do not.
