Who would you like to see in Biden's cabinet. Of the most interest to me is Sec. of State and Att. General.
Either Preet Bharara or Geoffrey Berman both of whom were removed from their positions by Dirty Donald????
Doesn't matter in this day and age. They are just there to carry out the presidents order and to keep him updated, that's the entirety of their job.
I think we will see Tammy Duckworth in a position somewhere. Elizabeth Warren will hold a post and I would not be surprised to see Obama - but maybe as ambassador to the EU
I think that's how it worked under Trump, but I could see, for example, an Att. General that reinstituted consent decrees to help quell the civil unrest. A secretary of State to restart work with Iran as well as our allies.
It works like that with everyone now mostly because of instant communication. There is no reason for a cabinet member to make a decision without letting the president know. Just technology.
No state secretary is authorized to work with foreign nations on their own accord. I don't think anyone since Ben Franklin has done that.
Do you think they would let a convicted felon out of jail to perform his janitorial duties? I hope not.
When you have good people you can trust doing the job there is no reason to micromanage like that. What I always told my people was to make sure I was the second person to know when they made a bad mistake so we could all work to fix it. Worked good.
Cabinet posts don't actually run anything though, the full time employees do. They report progress to the cabinet head who informs the president. The president may then issue a directive to the cabinet head who tell the workers who institute the change. That is their job and why its so easy to switch them out. Its not a position with any real authority. The secretary of defense would be the exception since he carries the other half of the nuclear launch codes.
He still had the presidents permission to do so. Do you really think the president wakes up one day, turns on the news, and hears about a new treaty his secretary of state made with a nation on his own.
Would have no problem with Dougie at DOJ Hope Joe keeps Wray on as FBI director, by the way. Seems like a really solid dude. Also have no problem with Treasury front-runner, Brainard Wouldn't mind seeing Coons on the team That dude is rock solid too. And get Pete in there somewhere, for good measure...
Hell no....he would leave the place a mess!!! Just like the country. Janitorial work is beyond Trump's capacity.
Which all was agreed to by Obama. Kerry could not bargain with anything he doesn't have that power under the constitution, only the president can.
I suspect Susan Rice for Sec of State, and hopefully Andrew Yang somewhere in his cabinet as well as Amy Klobuchar. Gawd, I'm loving the diversity in a Biden administration!
