Joe Biden is considering restarting construction on Donald Trump‘s southern border wall as his administration continues to grapple with a growing immigration crisis including record numbers of illegal crossers.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told employees, according to the Washington Times, that construction might resume to plug ‘gaps’ in the current barrier between the U.S. and Mexico.

The move comes as Biden made a big spectacle on Day One of his administration by issuing an executive order freezing Department of Defense funding for border wall construction. He later officially ended the emergency order at the border, but there were concerns about where the funds would go that were already appropriated for the border wall project.

On February 11, Biden ended Trump’s southern border emergency, which was issued through executive order in February 2019.

In the reversal, Biden slammed Trump by saying: ‘Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution. It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security.’

Well, well. Which one of you Democrats were not ridiculing President Trump for his wall (among other things), and which one of you Democrats were not applauding sleepy Joe for making "big spectacle on Day One of his administration by issuing an executive order freezing Department of Defense funding for border wall construction"? I suspect, you all did both.

And no, President Trump was not planning to build a coast-to-coast wall, only where it is needed. And now, Harris administration (sleepy Joe does not count) tacitly approves of President Trump's wall and will soon continue building it. WTF? Who could have guessed?

    I have :D

They know that even many democrats were supportive of border security and this massive crisis on the border could spell disaster in the mid-terms.

Granted, this is a poison pill either way Biden goes because not doing it will turn moderates away during mid-terms. Doing it means Trump was right....

And NO idea how many have made it through due to border patrol manning the interment camps and not border security.

So I'm guessing internal polling is looking grim form Dems in the mid-terms. Hence why the 180 on the border wall.

China Joe created a humanitarian catastrophe where none existed. If they really wanted to fix it, they would just revert back to Trump's Border Policies and call it "Biden Border Policy 2.0". The MSM would totally sell it as his.

But, they want the cheap labor. They want to potential new voters. If the Republicans had a brain cell between them when it comes to marketing, they would have relief booths all over the border to give out water, food, and pamphlets on the American Dream and how they want to increase legal immigration and stream line it.

Let's see how fast the dems now support the border wall and agree to provide the funding for it.

Very impressive of Biden. Finishing "gaps" left from Trump's wall sounds like a good use of tax dollars.

Nice to see a lack of hubris in a president that goes against his and his parties stance on the wall because it makes financial sense.

What? You're telling me Trump didn't build the wall he promised???

Wow! Next thing you know they'll be telling us that Mexico didn't pay for it, or something...

Somebody should tell Hillary. I'm sure she could use some good news after all this time Trump has had her locked up!

Who would do such a nasty thing!

“The Democrats do not support the wall,”
The wall is immoral, expensive, unwise”
“We, most of us, speaking for myself, consider the wall immoral, ineffective and expensive,”

The Establishment Republicans absolutely do. If you are a lock stepper for the Democrats, don't assume everyone else is a lock stepper for the Republicans. That's mindless.

I think there should be a wall where experts indicate there should be one. "Trump's wall", if by this we mean a wall that expands over the whole border, is just demagoguery.

Who are non-establishment republicans? It sounds like a convenient way to distance yourself from republican policies you don't support. Usually the word RINO is used so it is throwimg me off.

You say they should adopt Trump's rules for the border but I don't remember Trump going after employers of illegals any more then other administrations.

Conservatarians (Conservative - Libertarians) like Ran Paul, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and many others that have directly spoken against it.

They should do more then speak about it. They should have pushed Trump to take action...or is Trump an establishment Republican?

Also, libertarians support open borders. Not sure I have heard Cruz, Rand or Carson support that.

I'm glad you are in agreement that bringing construction to a complete halt was bad not only economically and for jobs, but it assisted with this massive crisis. Good on you to meet in the middle.

Makes no difference, for Democrats really do not care.

Incidentally, why do you think President Harris does not go to the border?

Plausible deniability. She does not see it with her own eyes, so it does not happen.
