He repeated this line in his speech the other day. "No amendment to the constitution is absolute". So slavery can be practiced in this country and the women's right to vote is not absolute? That's what happens when you have a senile man who finished near the bottom of his law school class. He does not understand what he is saying.
By the way you can yell fire in a crowded movie theater if there really is a fire! The "epidemic of gun violence" is largely the result of defunding police. So create a crisis and then use it as a reason to destroy liberty.
Well, in all fairness the 13th Amendment does state slavery and involuntary servitude is forbidden "EXCEPT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR A CRIME THEREOF THE PARTY SHALL HAVE BEEN DULY CONVICTED".....kinda surprised that little "loophole" hasn't been taken full advantage of as yet.
It is not an absolute! What about the military draft which democrats love so much? Would that not be an example of state slavery?
Sounds like he could be nudged to get rid of the national income tax (16th) as well... well, not really, but the theory would be the same. Joe is a train wreck, who hopefully cannot destroy too much before he's gone from his office.
Not my country, but from an outsider looking in.... Isn't a "Constitution" that has been "Amended" 27 times... well, amendable? Not a fixed document? Have any of the Amendments been altered in any way since they were added? Is there some reason why Democratic Republic shouldn't be allowed to change them if its people feel moral reasoning has progressed?
