We are really not "in" Iraq. We have about 2000 troops there.

I guess Biden have some common sense, he just knows common sense isn't popular with the left.

And there are practically nothing going on in terms of combat missions. Technically you can call it a "war" when we have a handful of troops gathering information in some corner of the world. Same word ("war") is used when we have half a million troops on the ground and dozens dying every day.

The left? The left pulled us out of Iraq, and the left (in general) have been talking about pull-outs for a long time. It is one of the few things they agreed with Trump.

    re: withdraw by Sept 11

Excellent. Probably long overdue.......as this has turned into the "longest war"........ which had ill defined "objectives" as time wore on.
Biden is speaking abut it at the moment. He is right. He will not pass this war onto the next administration. May 1 will see the beginning of this withdrawal........
He even spoke with former Prez Bush about it......... a very decent respectful and diplomatic thing to do. .

    United States will fall apart

All of this has happened before
and all of this will happen again

I did one tour there and I can honestly say to you **** that place. I saw more combat in Iraq and lost more friends there, but Afghanistan is the worst ****ing place in the world.

I don't doubt that, but if we need to keep 7000 troops there (at the airbase) in order to help Afghans keep terrorists from turning the place into a massive terror training camp, then maybe it is wort keeping them there. They don't have to take part in combat operations except for emergencies. We've had troops in Korea for how long? 60 years?

Yes, in general they have been vocal about pull-outs while the right wing accuses them for wanting to "cut and run", and "surrender" etc. I guess Obama taught you that he was not much of a leftist after all, although he did pull out of Iraq.

I think ending our military intervention in Afghanistan is something a majority of Americans can agree on, provided that enough is done to prevent Afghanistan becoming terrorist threat to us or our allies and partners again, as well as to continue helping the human rights situation there. Women have it about as bad there as they do in Saudi Arabia. :(

Based on that comment, your grasp of foreign policy seems rather simplistic and partisan, so I doubt you would understand my positions. Can't we just enjoy the fact that we both support the President's decision?

    Are you sure?

This doesn't sound like a responsible Congresswoman seeking unity.

I don't think President Biden is actually making Presidential decisions. I'm wondering who is though.

It's not really an accusation. It's more of a suspicion. Not that it matters.

And Biden did extend the troops in Afghanistan beyond the date Trump negotiated with the Taliban of May 1.

the current debt is why we can't afford it, do you think the right would all of a sudden say we have plenty of money for another 10 years of war?

The Right isn't in charge. Do we have enough money for "Infrastructure?"
