I wonder how this will be sold as Howard's fault. I know they will want to suggest it is only because of the Iraq war or something as such but that will not hold water on this one.

At any case enough of feeding tolls, this tends to be a serious threat.

Australia may soon find that the isolation of being surrounded by sea will be threatened by something like this. Those who sit and criticise due entirely of the belief of being immune to such threat may well find the consequences of complacency demonstrating their true nature of their folly.

Australia would appear to be the closest target for gutless terrorist threat and due to its close alliance with the US, ripe since the reach. I am sure those who continue to denigrate the nation from within will be the first to scream blue murder when the proverbial hit the fan, as so often they are, I know they will demand blood in return.

BUT just how does Bishop expect to proceed???

Well the Iraq war did bring about ISIS but Iraq war is Bush Jnr's fault, not Howard. Both Bush and Howard were clueless about what could potentially happen when they charged like a couple of cowboys into Iraq, likely they were warned but couldn't care less.

Back to the here and now. The threat is basically ISIS fighters returning from the middle east to the Phillipines and other countries. The leader of Abu Sayyaf has recently been declared an emir by ISIS, I think he is from the Philippines. If I recall the article said Bishop is working closely with Indonesia, Malaysia and the Phillipines. Indonesia of course being the largest Muslim nation in the world and I believe mostly Sunni Muslims.

ISIS is also expanding into Africa, so it is not surprising to see them increasing their activities in South East Asia

The biggest threat to Australia will likely come from within, with support from the Phillipines, not sure how many ISIS fighters have or will return when ISIS collapse in the middle east and whether the government will be able to stop all of them.

    Well said,
except Howard could have said no. Other nations did.
But have to agree, the future will look bleak in respect to further terrorist attacks....
    Was it Howard's fault?
Oh God no, why would anyone blame him, or Bush, or Trump, or Abbott, or Putin, or Erdogan?
Strangely most often the right side of the fence, isn't it?
Upps sorry Garry, wasn't going to wind you up,
    regards

Well, Well, Well, very nice response so how can anybody argue...
Yes now let us get serious,

I agree in general terms and true to expectations of support but we have to remember that if actions is taken NOW to work to prevent ISIS from having any hold in these nations this could all be academic. I do believe Bishop is calling for a collective effort to address these issues and while Africa is in such serious state with their own internal wars ISIS can get a leg in.

I just wonder, is this going to end in the same way as it always does with the ignorance from complacency. That is too many do-gooders complaining about the necessity to keep the effort going to support week governments and communities, instead of just deserting them and leaving them to their own devices to be consumed by radical entities. Surely to Christ, the world has learnt by now???

Was Howard responsible? Of course he fecking was!

Bush and Blair were the big 2, while Howard was just the little puppy dog that came running with tail wagging when he heard the whistle. Howard is responsible for how the world perceives us in this instance. He put us on the extremists maps! He saw a political opportunity for himself the mongrel!

So called "Islamic Terrorism" has become much more prevalent as a consequence of the invasion of Iraq "OBVIOUSLY"! Bush and Blair were warned that this would galvanise extreme elements and the snow ball effect this would have. 100' of thousands of civilian lives were taken in this war and invasion, which was not about defense or security. I think we in our comfortable little environment on our couch, just don't understand this massive impact on people's lives in these counties because we don't see or feel their pain because they aren't like us! Of course there was going to have a massively broad effect when peoples families were absolutely wiped out through being blown to smithereens.

Should have let sleeping dogs lie!
Howard the dog was looking for popularity and yearned to be seen as a strong leader, certainly not a prudent one. It was all about little honest Johnny!

Now we have clowns like Hanson who run around crying foul about people who happen to be Muslim wanting revenge for what bush, Blair and Howard did to their families.

She shouldn't be sticking it up Islam, she should be sticking it up Howard the animal. If the "so called" Islamic world saw us accosting our leaders and in fact convicting these 3 with war crimes, it would be seen as justice and go along way to making our world a safer place.

Rabble-rousers like Hanson are a blight on our society and world by persecuting through stereotypical bigotry!

Bishop will somehow need to grow balls and tell the world she apologises for the imprudence and self indulgence of her former leader. This needs to be done first and foremost. Trump should do the same and nip this Sh!t in the bud!

LOL, clearly the point is lost on you as I alluded. While you’re so busy bringing your hatred of Howard you completely missed the point. Instead of considering the point raised, you attacked the shallow with such venom. Me thinks your attempt at insult has been owned by your own comment...
Isn't it funny, the point raised in the title of the thread gets drowned out when you mention the focus of the hatred some have...

The point isn't lost. It is a case of one dimensional thinking clearly at work to consider otherwise!

Bishop is being simplistic. The Philippines Govt. will not sit idly by and accept a caliphate.

When daddy finds out you were using his login he might not be happy. You hack his account often don't you?

There is no use her trying to address this issue unless she looks at the core of the issue. What is fertilising this movement?

Well that maybe so, the Philippines government may need help to fight them as well so, just as other nations who are in poor position to fend of such intrusions. This really is a call to take the situation more seriously and not allow nations to become vulnerable for such organisations as ISIS and such. After all that complacency with Afghanistan and Iraq, just to name the most obvious have allowed these terrorists to get a foot hold in these nations over the years.

I think it is rather simplistic or in or resident bigots words “one dimensional thinking” to believe we can just ignore the situation because the government will oppose such.

As you can see from the resident Trolls who call to do nothing because Howard or bush or somebody else did something they do not agree with does not mean the world should just turn a blind eye. While I did bait the trolls it was for this very point that they demand the world just ignore such intrusions because they really don’t comprehend the damage caused by shallow understanding.

We could look at this point as a turning point to halt radicalisation in the world or we could just ignore it and remain reactive allowing people to rot as the fodder for people with far more insidious ideals.

As I said, hasn’t the world learnt lessons of the past??? We are bound to continue to repeat them if we don’t change our ways…

You may have thought you were baiting but we knew you were playing cute in an attempt to ensure Your idol Johhny doesn't get a negative mention.

In this comment you talk about halting radicalisation. You ain't going to halt radicalisation until there is justice. Rallying against the establishment of a caliphate in Phillipines or anywhere else is a mute point while ever you have people seeking vengeance because of lack of justice! Now what was that about one dimensional thinking.

Honestly, what are you on??? Have you over done the prescription drugs tonight???
Maybe you should have read the article before you tried to defend your superficial comment.
Anyway, when you get up to speed perhaps you could come back and actually comment on the premise of the thread and not demonstrate my points on your infantile attacks…

    Mate,
    will you never grow up?
Always on the attack, always trying to defame members on this forum.
Of course Howard has to take some blame.
So what is your solution for all those attacks?
    P. Hanson follower and stop all Muslim from entering Australia or can you come up with some real answers?
    Regards

Right, is this a little bit of self projection again I'm thinking. Your posts late at night especially, tend to become a little vague but that's all good, I can work with that for the greater good!

My god, can anybody be that stupid???

Listen, instead of spraying your venom about perhaps you should actually read the entire post. Then you might see the thread is not about who to blame but a more serious point of what should be done.

I did bait you to point out that this complacency to act due entirely from ideological ideals of how the world should run paralysing complete nations into acquiescence of unreal expectations…

I really didn’t know how ignorant some people are. I had always considered the trolls who simply throw their dispersions because they really like inflammatory argument. I really did not consider they are just so stupid they do not understand what is being discussed.

Anyway, you’re really out of your depth here if you consider that all you have is laying blame. Try, in some area of that grey matter you contain in your skull, to consider for a moment the issue being raised and how it can be addressed. Simply blaming people for YOUR idealistic beliefs does nothing to change the situation at hand, it just shows your limited ability…

You are so caught up in ya gotcha game that you cant see that the peripherals all need to be considered in addressing the issue. Who to blame is all part and parcel of how to address it!

Did somebody else write the OP for you or something?
