I was specifically referring to hard line partisans. Those who lean left or right but recognize that not everyone in their party is good for the country, do exist.

OK - I was referring to those who are not hard line partisans which is the group that is growing the fastest.

I'm not convinced of that. Considering what has historically happened in the mid-terms of a new president's first term, the D team had a pretty poor showing.

I think the D team had a rather good showing- gaining way more power than they previously had - despite having no plan and giving the voters little to vote for.

Red faces a demographic time bomb and the voter is in a foul mood in general. Red might be able to sway that foul mood in the direction of Blue but there is little they can do about the demographic time bomb unless they completely revamp their platform.

All the Dem's need to do is come up with a coherent message/plan and tone down the PC rhetoric.

I'm not saying they didn't make gains. I'm saying that historically, the new president's team loses way more seats in the first mid-term. Obama lost 63 house seats and 9 senate seats, for example. Bush gained 8 house and 2 senate. Clinton lost 52 & 8.

Bush was very popular in '02, which explains the math on that.

In November, Ds only gained 23 house seats and lost seats in the Senate. That's why I'm saying it was a historically poor showing.

And I gave the reason why the showing was not as good as it might have been.

The chances the D team comes up with a platform other than "we're not Trump," in less than two years is laughable. They are still so angry they can't see straight. It's the same boat the red team was in after Obama got elected. It took them awhile to regroup and get a message.

It didn't hurt team red that Clinton was the candidate. She's not well liked in this country. Try telling that to team blue, though.

You may be correct in relation to the Dem's ability to come up with a coherent platform in 2 years .. something other than "were not Trump".

Clinton as a candidate totally helped the Red team. Her arrogant condescending presence was so off-putting that even many Dem women did not like her (many likely holding nose and voting for her anyway but - this is not the case with the middle). In addition - she has no plan, nothing to vote for - all she did was "bad Trump, bad Trump".

Despite being nearly the worst candidate one could imagine - she still won the popular vote.

    What a load of horseshit.

IF TRUMP WERE A DEMOCRAT, WE’D BE SEEING COMPARISONS TO JFK NOW:

So they call Cohen a liar one day and believe him the next? If he says anything negative about the President than the theory is that he must now be telling the truth, right?
