Yes, I have heard this-- though I think the Tulsa incident far outstrips the others, in scale-- but I am not familiar with the details because, unfortunately, our education system has not considered them worthy of the time to teach (we're still getting kids ready to adopt the metric system, remember). I wonder how teaching about this part of American history, as well as the more unsavory parts, vis a vis Native peoples (which I was given at least a hint of, in high school), would affect national attitudes about racism. Would so many still regard it as a thing of only the distant past, and that should not still be showing any effects on the circumstances of the black community? Based on the uproar over the collegiate discipline of Critical Race Theory, however, this is clearly a moot question.

 

The greatest nation on earth also happens to be one of, if not the most diverse. There are also many different ways for people in a society to be diverse, right down to the individual level. Are you arguing for conformity? Groupthink?

It became the greatest nation while being 90%+ White and 90%+ Christian. It started down hill when it started diversifying. I am not arguing for anything. I am bemoaning the fact that such a great nation is being ruined by diversity.

 

Segregation = secession. That's the only logical consequence. If "Black State" is successful, they will demand secession. If "Black State" becomes a cesspool, the rest of the country will clamor for secession for them.

Poppycock. The nation started out more Native American than white. Whites also enslaved Native Americans, and later Africans, from the very beginning of colonization to build the foundations of what would become this great nation.

The nation is at its greatest now and always becoming greater, and its diversity absolutely plays a major part in that. The world's best minds come here from all over the world to achieve great things. Our native-born white population should try harder to be a part of that instead of allowing themselves to become self-pitying victims of their own failings.

I could also easily point to any number of far less diverse nations that are not doing so well.

I'm describing collectivism. The closest designator in common parlance is 'socialism', but communism works just as well.

It's an economic model predicated upon shared resources and labour. It's very much worker-owned, but it doesn't involve the buying & selling of labour, and does not generate profit in the same way that a regular capitalist enterprise does.

 

Conformity is essential to social harmony. And conformity is a very different thing to 'groupthink' because it's behavioural, not philosophical. No one in a conformist society gives a crap what you think or who you vote for - they care only about your commitment to social responsibility. IOW, your behaviour.

In the last 20 years, maybe. Before that they were a major "sick man" in the world for going on 200 years. Considering they have the world greatest population by far and the 3rd largest area they should be doing MUCH better. The USA is by FAR the most successful nation in the world today and getting better and better. This is clearly BECAUSE we are so diverse and largely always has been.
