It's a prototype. Something like that can happen.
I hope the crew could safely bailout.

That was a 145% overload test. The failure of wing bulkhead occurred at 144%.
One does those extreme tests to find the weak spot. Boeing got a ton of data out of this failure.
It should be no problem to re-enforce the bulkhead, especially with this data.

And I might add that testing and oversight of the airline industry has basically been dropped by the government and turned over to the industry itself. This whole Boeing fiasco is about as clear a case for government over sight of an industry as you are likely to get.

Its not a prototype, its the actual production type. The plane is already in production

It was in the Max software. But this was a test required and observed by the FAA.
The bulkhead missed its target by 1%.
That is rather good data gained by it. You test to make it break.
The Boeing software, which designed the bulkhead missed the target, by 1%.
    Great information.

EU countries desperately don't want Airbus to suffer competition from Boeing.

For Germans, it would be a disaster because Airbus is one of the few industrial exports from France, and since there's already a vast inequality in industrial trade between Germany and France, would further strain relations, and possibly ultimately the EU trade bloc.

Reality is Airbus probably would not be able to compete well with Boeing, on a one on one equal footing. Even though Boeing is plagued with problems.

That's the reason for testing. Just ask SpaceX.

Then Sobo was wrong. He said that this is a prototype.

    Wrong on evry instance.

Airbus is not french. Its German & french. Aircrafts are assembled in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and even UK. Its a euopean venture.

Reality is, that Airbus delivers the better product.

This is what often happens to large publicly traded companies. I worked for a number of such entities. The CFO eventually gets more power than the CEO. The company stops caring about people - focusing only on profit - and the people stop caring about the company.

.......actually it’s technically Dutch.....the ultimate parent company is in The Netherlands...
The company was formerly known as Airbus Group SE and changed its name to Airbus SE in April 2017. Airbus SE was founded in 2000 and is based in Leiden, the Netherlands.

    Primary Industry Classification
    Aerospace and Defense

    Primary Office Location
    Mendelweg 30 | Leiden, Zuid-Holland | 2333 CS | Netherlands

    ...anyway it doesn’t really matter....

And the failure happened at a point so close to maximum stress that it is pretty much statistically irrelevant. They can strengthen the effected area fairly easily.

Not quite. It is the 777X, not yet in production.

The accurate description would be "test article" or something like that. Neither prototype nor production type.

Do not German pilots fly passenger jets full of people into the ground?

    Of course they do.
