Welcome to the best American free-speech-forum!
Am happy to hear you love dogs. That must have been a wonderful job as a shepherdess.
Wishing you a happy retirement in France.

Thank you Jazz...yes it was unforgettable if hard work!

Very much IMO , having lived in three countries has given me a better all round view and perspective of each one. I find their view of themselves to be...bent out of shape a bit. Like living in the world and never seeing yourself moving around in it.

BTW the cranes (grues) have almost finished flying north over the Pyrenees...spring is very near!

I wish I could visit Au Pays Basque. I may be one of the few Americans who likes "Match de Pelote."

Fastest ball sport in the world.
    Have you played it?
It is a nice part of the world, I've crossed the Pyrenees 3 times on the way to and from Portugal.

What part of France? I lived in Alsace, right on the border with Switzerland and Germany (St. Louis). The wife is French and Swiss, now an American capitalist pig as she puts it.

Switzerland would be a beautiful country if there were no Swiss people, and I say that as a Step-dad to two Swiss boys.

I have lived in England (Bradford and Newcastle) and in Scotland (Dundee) for some time.
Now I am living in Germany near the French border now.
As it happens, I have just been to France again today, for lunch. :)

    d'accord! :)
But do not under-estimate the famously good cooking in the former Grand-Duchy of Baden, where I live. :)

I lived in Dusseldorf as a kid and I have to admit they make a good sausage.
Given the choice I'd still eat French food though.
There's a reason we don't have many German restaurants in the UK but do have lots of French ones.

I do not intend to go into a competition.
I have made my choice today, as you can see.
I did not maintain that German food is better than French food.
But it need not be dis-respected.
    That's all I am saying.

    :)

Maybe I have now opened a ... storm how so terribly bad German food is?
    Then let it be :)

I never said German food is bad, only that French is better.
Like I said, they make a fine wurst.

People complaining about German food probably just haven't had it done right. Knackwurst, Sauerkraut, Kartoffelsalat, Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte... All unbeatable if prepared properly.
