So wait a minute here....people seeking asylum crawl under train tracks to enter this country, how does that work?

People are getting mangled trying to sneak across our border and who knows how many get mangled, robbed, raped or murdered in Mexico that no media outlet will ever investigate and report on? What about the women? What about the kids? What about if it saves just one life?

The humanitarian thing to do is build a wall and advertise far and wide that illegals will not get past it, it just might save their life.

Nothing can stand in the way of their vote farming and "radical transformation" of America.

Not a single progressive actually cares about the rapes and various other hazards. If they did, they'd oppose this illegal mass immigration as fervently as we do.

The fact that these immigrants believe they have a chance of breaching the border is why they keep trying... it's not conservatives who support and encourage it.

Walls have already proven to be ineffective, costly, and environmentally damaging.

Why are no programs that will actually work actually being floated by any of the conservatives that “care” so much? National e-verify + massive employer penalties would shut them out of work nationwide. Federal revocation of drivers licenses, loans, bank accounts, federal and state social programs including education and healthcare in addition to immediate arrest once they come into contact with any government official regardless or reason would make daily life hostile to them. Reform birthright citizenship and putting a moratorium on amnesty would eliminate their hope of abusing the system.

But the best y’all can come up with is a wall...
A wall that can be swam or walked around, flown over, dug under and ignores the fact that over half of all illegal immigration are visa overstays and another 20% - 30% are smuggled across at checkpoints.

Build the wall, that’s fine — but it won’t work without some if not all of the above and everyone of you that has the ability of cognitive thought know it.

You don’t care, you just pretend to care because it’s a talking point.

Why do you think there'd be opposition to E-Verify and other methods? Why not all of the above? Why has the government grown soft and scared on spending on NATL Security? At least this time, instead of redundant military spending it is actual fortified defense of the Homeland.

No, Pelosi would rather make a spectacle of her miserable speakership.

She'd probably like to put out the red carpet for new arrivals? She probably 'prays' for them every night like she prays for The Donald. 'Those whom the gods wish to destroy . . . '?

Red states must have low wage laborers for their farms. This despite the fact that the taxpayers have to foot the subsidies and Trump approved more. Republicans are always good "talkers" when it comes to illegals but they won't do squat to get rid of the problem.

According to Amnesty International, 80% of women experience rape and sexual assault during the migration process.
    http://time.com/longform/migrant-caravan-mexico/

Such migrant caravans are not uncommon as those heading north seek safety in numbers as the road through Mexico is rife with risks such as kidnap, rape and extortion.

Might be a big part of the reason why 40 or so percent of Republican Congressmen secretly despise Trump (even though they can't state so openly).

Would you like to guess what year Israel got their barrier up?

How about you guess when Hungary put up theirs?

Oh this is Pelosi’s fault? What happened to complete Republican control for the last two years?

If republicans actually worked to fix the issue instead of grandstand they would lose a party platform — so it will never happen.

Can you name any differences between the border of those two nations and our 2,000 mile border than spans several lakes, rivers, oceans, deserts and has 48 crossings and 330 ports of entry?

No? They are similar in your mind?

Build the wall, I don’t care — just like flat earthiers trumpets will ignore all evidence, especially that over half of our illegal immigration is visa overstays and another 20% - 30% are crossings at checkpoints so the border will stop at maximum 20% - 30% — but the wall alone will not work. We have to make America unattractive to illegals and a wall does not do that anymore than miles of desert already do. We need programs like the ones mentioned above.

Yes, if the Republicans didn't act why should the Democrats? Good point.

And the Democrats are far more consistent than the Republicans also; they're against a border wall 100% of the time. Democrats are more modern, feeling drones can do the trick or, as Nancy Pelosi suggested, letting the grass grow taller. Walls are so first century.

So it’s the democrats fault that the republicans — during control of both houses of congress, the executive branch and the SCOTUS — didn’t do a damn thing about immigration for over two years.

    Ok...

So walls do not work? Does that mean that inmates stay in prison voluntarily?

When will folks stop using debunked talking points?

I agree on a diversity of methods. A wall is not enough.

I am spoiled living in a country with a 3000km moat around it.

How many prisons do you know that have walls that must contend with water passages? Take your time.

Prisons are also built to keep people in, without tools. Give an inmate a jackhammer and tell him all he has to do is get through the wall and he is free and what do you believe would happen?

This can’t be your best retort. Really?

I think we should turn a few miles from the border into a military testing zone and use the area for massive bombings, heavy artillery, tank battles, landmine testing. Make the few miles along the border a giant US military base.

I'm of the personal belief that we'd work anywhere, provided we had consistent transportation to get us to/from the place, without killing our wallets. Right now, if you live in the city you can forget about the rural areas, and vice-versa. We're somewhat 'trapped' in our localities, and not able to travel long distances without substantial costs.

Of course, the median wage affects this as well, as gas prices are a constant, US wages have not raised appreciably. I don't care if you want to blame Republican policies or whatever, but we're not getting the bang for our buck.

That's why I did support the idea of high-speed rail, and the problem isn't with that idea(See: How Asia's high speed rail has dramatically reduced the distances to/from long distances.), the problem was with the Californian government itself. This is why conservatives say private projects should be done by the private sector, not by the government. Or at least, have it coordinated by the federal government(IE: The highways was one such success.)

Making travel even quicker and/or easier somehow, is the next step we can take.

Where did I indicate such nonsense. Democrats will oppose trump just like republicans opposed Obama. Now feel free to answer why a Republican controlled congress didn’t pass the measure before the elections?
