This is a case---that has no tangible fingers pointing. I'm interested on what opinions are out there on the who and why. All we have is speculation at this point---speculation driven by our worldview.

Personally---I think its plausible that this was done by a left-winger, on Patriots Day/ Tax Day as an effort to direct blame towards Right Wingers. It sounds crazy.....but I can see it.

Or it was a Right Winger. Even Right Wingers have the very occasional nut.

For some reason---I'm thinking its not that Saudi Student---who might have been conveniently in the wrong place, wrong time.

Of course---I could be totally wrong.

I think this forum has a very loose definition of "plausible"

Honestly, if this were a tax protest, it would have been a gov't target-IMHO. It could be a madman, but I think it was probably Muslim terrorists created by the last four years of drone warfare and the assassination of AQ leaders.

If you want uninformed speculation about this simply turn (turd?) on your TV.

I'm leaning heavily towards Al Qaeda. Multiple bombs, pressure cookers, desire to kill children as well as adults; ALL Al Qaeda m.o.

In 2011, a former solder.....a Muslim....was caught planning to make pressure cooker bombs to place inside a restarurant frequented by Ft. Hood soldiers. He also had the instructions from al Qaeda in his possession....which gave instructions on making them and asking for "lone" jihadists to act. He has been sentenced to life.

The bombing plots foiled at Time Square a year or so ago......also pressure cookers and Al Qaeda.

IMHO, everything so far is pointing towards Al Qaeda. And IF that's the case and these IED's are starting to happen here in ramdom crowded placed here in our country......there's going to be some serious changes taking place. The American people will not tolerate our children being killed and maimed like this.

Also---the issues going on right now at Gitmo makes me think a lone Al Qaeda operative....or cell.....did it.

I am thinking some home grown nut... or someone or a group that has no connection to Al Qaeda but embraces their theology. Just feels too small for an Al Qaeda attack. But time will tell.

I think it was an obese right-wing Muslim NY Yankee fan. At this point, that's as plausible as anything else.

You're partly right. But it's not OUR fault, it's MOHAMMAD'S fault, since he said "I have been made victorious through terror" (so he's a role model for terrorists, and the Qur'an says the the ultimate role model - which is ridiculous), and the Qur'an that he invented is chock full of passages about hatred and war towards non-Muslims. Read chapter 8! They are just following his lead.....just like when Christians hate Jews, because there is much hateful wording in the New Testament about those who reject this "Jesus" fellow in favor of some other imaginary friend.

Right wingnut/libertarians/baggers/racists/gungoons/Obama haters for sure. They can all be tarred with the same brush. And that won't be the end of it most likely.

Your hate politics are going to come home with the chickens to roost.

And the right will try to distance themselves from the perps. The left will let them get away with it!

So that could be 1 of about 1 billion people (i.e. most Muslims), since no Muslim I've ever run across will say that Mohammad's instructions to spread Sharia Law, through any means possible (he himself, in his later years, was a warlord, murderer, bandit, torturer, terrorist, etc.), is wrong. They won't say that. They believe in that guy. Qur'an 33:21 says he's the best role model "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow...."

The only way to end the GWOT is to end Islam. To think otherwise is to be delusional. But 70% of America is indeed delusional because 70% of America believes in talking donkeys, dragons, people with wings that fly around, talking snakes (or they'd remove those from their Bibles).

Oh gee, one child is killed and you say that after it's now become pretty obvious that the American people are quite content to see 20 children killed and still don't have the will to do anything about it!

The only thing not pointing to Al Qaeda is the fact that they haven't claimed responsibility.

Ah, I didn't realize we had run into the same thing before. That does make a lone Al Qaeda operative more plausible.

Now, now now. Calm down and tell us your theory.

I can't see N. Korea as sophisticated enough to plant people in U.S. And I think they would bluster enough to take the blame.

If you're referring to Newton....nothing, absolutely nothing in the gun legislation would have prevented it. Nothing.

    CIA.

Keep Americans in a state of perpetual fear. This legitimizes the illegal wars of terrorism and allows the government to continue stealing our rights (see: our power) away.

It's going to turn out to be a left wing Occupy Wall Street type or another middle easterner. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

If I'm wrong when all the facts come out, I'll admit it. But right now I'm going on record with the above being my prediction.

Everything you're saying here sounds as easy to understand and believe as daytime is light, and nighttime is dark, YET people still flounder about regarding Islam, don't ban it as they should, and we get more terrorism, and more Islamization.
    Go figure.

What if a person is just following Mohammad's proclamation to spread Islam, through violence if needed? Are they a psychopath, or just a devout (albeit very literalist) Muslim?

Here is a super-long "List of Killings Ordered or Supported by Muhammad": http://wikiislam.net/wiki/List_of_Killings_Ordered_or_Supported_by_Muhammad
It's so long that the whole page takes up EIGHT screen-fulls.

Can you condemn Mohammad as a violent man here, or do you excuse violence if it's done by a religious figure (like Moses, or David, etc.)?
