They were not showing disrespect to your country (or flag). They were showing disrespect to your President and the direction your country is heading

    Thats bullshit

The disrespected the flag like little children who break their toys or hold their breath when daddy does not buy them a present

Sure they may have done it in response to trump but they still disrespected the flag and the country

Has anyone noticed how quiet the MSM has become regarding this killing. Now if this Sudanese immigrant was a Republican or white we'd be hearing the hew and cry for at least a month for the death penalty and calling it white racism.

It does seem to be relatively quiet. OTOH, aside from the poor woman who was murdered (shot once then shot in the head), this idiot wasn't a very good shot leaving all but one of his victims wounded.

...Mental health professionals said the shootings can spark anxiety in communities around any high-profile mass shootings, especially this one since it’s so rare in Middle Tennessee.

That anxiety can show up as:

    • Becoming afraid of going outside
    • Thinking over and over again about what it was like for those inside the church
    • Feeling confused, tense, irritated or angry, seemingly for no reason, for days or weeks or longer
    • Sleeping less, eating more and drinking more alcohol
    • Distrusting others
    • Becoming hyper vigilant, constantly looking around and being extremely sensitive to noises.
The experts say there are several ways to deal with fear sparked by the shootings......

Pastor Spann had initially been in critical condition, but gave a news conference:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...a229b0-a305-11e7-b14f-f41773cd5a14_story.html
NASHVILLE — The minister heard gunshots in the parking lot and saw a man wearing a “freaky” mask walking briskly into his tiny church.

The only thing the minister could find to defend himself from the faceless intruder was a plastic container. Joey Spann, the 66-year-old minister of Burnette Chapel Church of Christ, threw the container in a last-ditch to protect about 50 parishioners. But the gunman simply swatted it away.

The first bullets whizzed past the preacher’s ear. Then, as the intruder moved within inches of Spann, the minister raised his left hand. A bullet sliced through his left index finger and slammed into his chest. He fell to the ground, not far from where his 65-year-old wife, who had been shot in the thigh, was lying.

“She cried out yelling my name,” Spann recalled Tuesday. Spann said he grabbed his chest wound and began losing consciousness as he called out to his wife.

“Honey,” he said. “He’s killed me. I am dying and I am sorry.”

Spann offered his gripping account of the shooting, which left one parishioner dead and six wounded, during a 30-minute news conference at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is recovering after losing his index finger.

Authorities have not said what motivated the gunman to execute the shooting. Emanuel K. Samson, who used to attend the church, has been charged with murder.

The shooting has shaken this relatively diverse pocket of Nashville, a community now fearful that Samson’s attack on a predominately white church could disturb a sense of racial harmony here.

Samson, 25, is a native of Sudan but resettled in the United States in 1996. Nashville police and federal investigators haven’t publicly identified a motive for the attack, but the U.S. attorney’s office in Nashville has launched a civil rights investigation and federal authorities have opened a hate-crime investigation.

The church is in Antioch, a Nashville community that is relatively rural but increasingly diverse amid a surge in new single-family houses and apartment complexes. And though most residents here vow they will not allow Samson’s actions to divide them, there are signs some of that unity has already been undercut.

Shortly before a vigil for the victims Monday night, Bea Spain, 91, said she is now more hesitant to embrace the new arrivals in her community.

“Us older people could see the way the demographics were moving, and where it would eventually lead,” said Spain, who is white.

Her friend, Patricia Harris, 76, agreed. “I love and pray for them, but I don’t trust them,” Harris, who is black, said of immigrants. “They will grin in your face and move in your neighborhood and pretend to love you, and then something like this happens.”

Spann said he doubts that Swanson targeted his former congregation because of race or politics. Although it’s a predominately white congregation, the church is the spiritual home of several interracial couples, parishioners note.

But the shooting has stung Nashville’s vibrant immigrant community, including about 5,000 refugees from Sudan who have settled in the area.

In recent years, in part due to the welcoming reputation of its churches, Nashville has also seen an influx of Kurdish, Somali, Burmese and Congolese refugees, said Gatluak Thach, executive director of the Nashville International Center for Empowerment, which helps newly arrived refugees.

While Nashville’s faith community and political leadership have a long history of welcoming immigrants, the city struggles with many of the same cultural debates that have a driven wedge between residents in other areas of the country. In January, for example, Nashville’s Metro Council withdrew a proposal to restrict local cooperation with federal immigration officials due to statewide opposition.

Thach, who is also Sudanese, said he worries Samson’s actions will harden some residents’ skepticism about his community.

“It’s not only fear about what will happen to you, but as a resident here, it’s sadness about what he did to all of those people who opened their doors, opened their homes and opened their houses of worship for you,” said Gatluak, who noted most local Sudanese are Christians drawn here partly because of its reputation as having a strong Christian identity.

According to Spann, his church sponsored residents from Sudan several years ago but he could not recall whether Samson was one of them. Several parishioners said that Samson regularly attended the church about two years ago.

Without a clear motive, some residents are also leaping to their own conclusions about the gunman’s motive.

Tommy Goad, who lives across the street from the church, noted the gunshot victims were all over the age of 60. Goad, a former security guard and bounty hunter, said he believes the only reason Samson previously attended the church was to scout out potential victims.

“Everyone is saying don’t jump to conclusions and he was a nice guy but I think it was planned,” Goad said. “He knew what he was doing and picked out a place he knew where everybody was elderly, and didn’t expect to encounter anyone who was armed.”

After Samson shot Spann and the other parishioners, another man inside the church, Robert Caleb Engle, confronted him. As the two men struggled, police said, Samson’s gun went off, hitting him in the chest, and he fell to the floor. Engle then retrieved his own handgun and stood over Samson until police arrived.

Par for the course. The Scalise terrorist attack was immediately labeled a lone wolf, unaffiliated, self radicalized singularity ... no ones fault ... It's always portrayed a bit differntly when the shooter isn't a member of a leftist protected class ...

No, it's - Translation: You've been brainwashed, Max, brainwashed since birth that the US is the greatest country on the planet. Well it used to be, but not any more; your country is run by nincompoops, and the nincompoops who vote them into office.

Says a person from a country whose ass had to be saved from the Germans not once, but twice in one century by the same people who threw them out of the USA. A person who is worried about his economic future under Brexit. Feel free to complain Cerber, but the fact remains the US is the world's premier superpower, economic power and a great country. We have problems and, like Britannia, may sink down to a second rate nation under China or Brazil, but for now, we're #1!

Yes, you're No 1 in everything except basic common sense and an astute grasp of realpolitik and foreign affairs - which is why you **** things up big-time wherever on the planet that you unwantedly poke your military nose into. Right, feel free to carry on bragging! God how I loathe braggarts.

Well, every time a person posts they do as you say; educate others on their thoughts and perceptions. For example, the fact you focused upon me instead of Cerberus or the both of us says something about you. The same goes for your use of the collective "us". Are you Cerberus's partner? Friend? Colleague? Do you have a mouse in your pocket? If so, do you play with it and type one-handed?

While your response and specific words say something about you, it's just a piece of the puzzle into your personality. As you point out, it works both ways.

Well, now we know why he did it.

Let's see if the media is as outraged by this as they were by the other one.

    Thanks for the link.

As for "the media", it's a business. We don't have "news" in this country, we have "infotainment" and they only print or broadcast what sells. Want to know how many Girl Scouts helped poor people or how many acts of charity were done today? Don't look for it as a headline because most people are bored by that and "infotainment" is all about selling what people want: blood, gore and anything that makes their lives look better in comparison. Those who fault a business of trying to make money are anti-capitalist and unAmerican.

I don't have a problem with "infotainment" as long as they make it clear that that's what they're doing.
