Did you notice it, Andy? Three of those four stories were in well-known leftist, liberal organizations -- HuffPost, NPR, Vox...!

At the time, Democrats were 'circling the wagons' around Joe Biden, and the talk early last spring was, "So, what the hell are we going to do about Kamala? Nobody likes her!"

Then, like magic, suddenly, all these 'trial balloon' news articles start popping up about Sotomayor's 'health problems' -- and it was easy to put two-plus-two together! Get Sotomayor to retire, have Joe nominate Kamala to take Sotomayor's Supreme Court position, get Schumer and the Democrat Senate to confirm it -- and it's a slam-dunk! Democrats could 'sell' her as a Supreme Court Justice because Kammy had been the Attorney General of California, and therefore she could be assumed to know something about the law!

Well, it could have worked, except for the fact that nobody in the Democrat camp paid enough attention to the rather obvious fact that Joe Biden's mind had already turned to pudding.... The rest of the story we all know by now. And today the Democrats have a REAL enigma on their hands....

Actually, I hope you're right and that Sotomayor stays right where she is. That way, no matter whatever else happens, it's all ethical, above-board, and above any conjecture about any back-office, back-stabbing manipulation or sabotage!

You don't need ANOTHER amendment when abortion already protected by the 9th and 14th. What you need are Supreme Court justices that will follow the Constitution instead of taking gifts from pro-life groups and individuals.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg knew it would not hold forever. Where is abortion mentioned in either one? Why didn’t Obama codify a law to make abortion legal? Abortion is settled, it is a State’s issue now. Still legal in America. IMO abortion should never be used as birth control.

Where is the right to travel? Right to choose your own career? Right to marry who you want? Allow married couples to use contraception? Allow interracial marriage? I can go on about the endless inherent rights and nothing is more inherent than bodily autonomy that the 9th allows and Republicans took away from women. This is 100% a Constitutional issue that Republicans clearly got wrong.

 

What we will never agree on is when life begins. Pro-Abortion advocates have conveniently denied the science in order to achieve their agenda of genocide of black babies. Planned Parenthood was started by a white racist woman. The abortion issue is not now or ever will be again a national issue.

 

Force them out? Uh, no that's not what happened. Suggesting they step down for the good of what they believe in in the long-term would be what happened. Although in reality, it is ill-advised and more likely to backfire than help given the timing.

The notion of needing a majority of your party in the senate, perhaps even a supermajority, to get a nominee through is not a traditional norm at all. Mitch cheated to get that undemocratic advantage. If one believes in democracy, one should be upset by that, but I'm mostly upset by it because conservatives are wrong about most policies and dems don't fight dirty enough to make up for conservative tactics.

 

It will be again whether you like it or not. People will realize that Republicans have no problem taking away constitutional rights from women and it will be returned to the Courts again, like it did in the past.

 

Take the issue up with your state. That is your Constitutional right.

Wrong. Roe v Wade majority was by 5 Republicans and 2 Democrats. Dissent was 1 Republican and 1 Democrat. Get your basic facts straight and do your research.
