Only if they get out of line or act up and get on the nerves. We also used to slap hysterical men and tell them to pull themselves together. You see both in old movies from our own history. The domestic violence in Russia is less than in Western World. The reason of it is a different relation to women in Russia and in your countries.

I do not know. I did not know any women who were beaten by their husbands -- but I was under 13. I did know three boys and one girl who were severely abused by their mothers. I was never hit by my parents.
