    Weapon of choice: Eurofighter Typhoon

The Eurofighter Typhoon, introduced in 2003, was the result of an ambitious project by the governments of the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain to build the most advanced multi-function fighter jet in the world. Despite coming in almost 75 per cent over budget and being delayed several times, the jet is seen as a technologically advanced modern aircraft with few rivals.

The Typhoon's performance in the Libyan conflict last year, where it flew over 600 missions, earned it plaudits – and interest from the governments of India and Brazil. With a top speed of 1,320mph and impressive manoeuvrability in the air, the Typhoon has often been compared to the US Air Force's F-35 fighter jet. In 2007, Saudi Arabia confirmed it had signed a £4.43bn contract for 72 Typhoons.

    'Kin hell.

I get sick on a ferry to France.

There is no way I would go in a helicoper either.

They look to fragile, and they always blow up in the films.

Because Parliament has no role in the in the authorization for the use of military force. Thats the role of the Monarch, advised by the PM.

To be fair, the same label could apply to Putin, Obama, Hollande, and Hu Jintao.

How is it that the vast bulk of people are not inbred toffs, and yet, somehow, we end up with a family of them as 'Royals', and another one, in Downing St?

Would it not make more sense that birds of a feather, flock together, and so, a man that was more like the general public, would step forth?

We pay no more than we would a President Cameron or a President Bliar or Brown of Thatcher .......I bet the Royal Family is cheaper to keep than The Prez ........

They are our continuity our stability as is the CofE, I am in the ordinary sense of the word, an atheist but still having a National religion is stability for there is no argument and all religions live peacfully together under the umbrella of the one.

Changes are smother in stable communities. Our structer works knock it down from the top we might be Russia or just another European Country ..........don't have to like 'em :) I do though I do like them. I've always got on with 'toffs' rich or poor, the real 'toffs' are cool as are the old working class, it is the middle classes I don't get on with so well, especially the New money. Colourless and characterless as is the EU .....I think that is what I hate most about it, no fun to be had in the Euro ..it is all so grey and boring :)

Why do you need a President?

A title is just a title anyway, and I would still prefer to have a say in mine, thanks.

I find the pomp and ceremony disgusting, inapprorpriate, out dated, tacky, and offensive, at a time when ordinary families are struggling to make ends meet.

Aye, but you do not get them tightening their belt, eh?

Freeloaders, that all belong in a different century, most of whom are not even British realy, but German/Greek/God knows.

I do understand your pov ........but totally anachy and or revolutions of any sort always bring worst not better people to the fore ....and we are by no means evolved enough for a Gnostic life style.

Why a Prez ? Because that is what would happen Every where has a Head of State ..............Idealisms don't relate to reality :)

    Yes.

But just because it happens everywhere is not reason to accept it like a god that is not fallable.

    There are alternatives.

Yes there are, but we are not up to them :)

Not yet anyway,We are too divided. Though if we could live in smaller communities having more control over our immediate terrain ...but we are too ovr crowded eh ?

I must sleep, we must agree to differ on this one .............but for now the Queen is safe eh ? ;-)

I was no great fan of Dis' ......though I was at her funeral ..........amazing, the smell of Lillies was overwhelming, unforgettable. I do love those times when London become pedestrian, the Pomp when you are there is very different feeling when you are a part of the crowd.

My daughter doesn't agree with it all either but she too says it is so extraordianry to be a part of it ...........those wonderful black Irish horses coming down the Mall ....I used to watch them rehersing when I worked round the corner, they are so much a part of (my) London :) It is all so much a part of me so no matter the logic, I love it and would feel a terrible terrible lose if it were gone :)

Even if you hate the Royals and all they embrass .....who would you hate instead, if they were gone ? 'cos yes there would be something ti hate and it would be grey and boring and faceless.
