Caffeine and nicotine are almost chemically identical to cocaine

Caffeine, nicotine, and cocaine are all in the same chemical family - they are alkaloid stimulant drugs. Why on earth do people put this toxin in their system and not think twice about it? Not that I'm not guilty of ever drinking a soda or coffee, but it's pretty sad that the general population downs this stuff by the gallon and doesn't even realize that they might as well be puffing on a crack pipe.

Stimulant drugs like cocaine, caffeine, nicotine, etc - have been shown to cause anxiety, paranoia, nervousness, "jitters" and depression. People who use them in extremely high doses can even exhibit violent or psychotic symptoms, hallucinations, etc

That's one good thing about Mormons- they really are anti-drug. A lot of people are really only anti-illegal drug.

Starbucks tea is decent - starbucks coffee on the other hand is totally overrated, not much better than McDonald's coffee. Though the Frappucinos are good.

Both are psychoactive stimulant drugs of the crystalline alkaloid family.

They are similar but nowhere near as potent. The government is good about banning really dangerous drugs.

A small amount of caffeine a day is fine.

It's not available in as high doses in beverages as cocaine would be if you snorted it.

However "powdered caffeine" in very high concentrations is legally available online as a legal alternative to cocaine. Some people have died from caffeine overdoses by using this.

This is a huge criticism I have of the drug war: the government choosing which drugs should be illegal implies to the population that all other drugs are harmless.

If something can't even make Schedule V with cough suppressants people figure that it's harmless. In reality caffeine is a serious drug with all the same withdrawal+tolerance symptoms as opiates. You'll come down pretty hard if you take a large dose.

Paracetamol/acetaminophen is another. It's the devil's drug. The pain relief is so minimal that you may as well not bother, and if you take 10 times the active dose you die. The government laces codeine with it in the hope that people get severe liver damage and die long before they can have any fun.

I avoid caffeine at all costs. You might be surprised just how energetic you really are once the withdrawal wears off. Seems the real motive behind federal scheduling is to stop people having fun: that's why marijuana is illegal but APAP+ caffeine aren't - they don't give you euphoria/transcendence.

What i said is caffeine and nicotine cant really be compared to cocaine, and if they could they would be banned by now.

How about you read what i write, and not what you want to read?

Starbucks "coffee" is undrinkable...it is absolutely revolting. McD's coffee (which is now Newman's Own) is actually pretty good, though not usually strong enough.

Horse manure. Acetaminophen works very well for many people (note: it is a fever reducer as well as a pain reliever). Nobody "laces" anything with codeine, though acetaminophen is available with it (as in: Tylenol-Codeine). Acetaminophen has greatly improved my mother's life...Excedrin (a mix of acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine) is the ONLY thing short of her Imitrex shots that will help her migranes.

I always think its funny hearing alleged small government conservatives--especially those who call the FLOTUS "Moochelle"--complain about saving people from the "really dangerous drugs".

    Who asked to be saved?

    I didn't. I got Jesus for that.

All pain meds associated with level 6 or lower are filled with acetaminophen to purposefully hurt the liver and cause damage in the hopes of preventing addiction. Very controversial policy by the way. You have to go into the top tier pain killers which are prevented from doing that to find the best drugs but they are extremely potent. Your talking morphine type of drugs at this level.

Caffeine except in huge doses does not mess with your hand eye coordination. A joint does. It also, based on tapes long since burned, reduces your IQ by about 50% while you are high.

Related does not mean same. Or functioning identically. Or equally dangerous. Cocaine can kill you in just one dose. Do I necessarily wnat the federal government involved, not hardly.

Anyone who states Starbucks coffee is good has never had a decent cup of coffee.

Nicotine is used to help people who have parkinsons Disease and other neurological ailments. It is thought to prevent Alzheimers--though they aren't sure how.

Caffeine in moderates amounts is beneficial and IQ tests show that it helps brain performance.

    So....not necessarily always a toxin.

It has a definite taste that people get used to. I like it quite a bit though it took awhile to acquire the desire for it.

Coffee in general is like that.

From what I heard (maybe it's true or not) Starbucks use Robusta beans which is at the low end of coffee quality compared to Arabica. It's the cheap sh!t. Robusta is what is used to make instant coffee (I never drink this sh!t) and Robusta has a higher caffeine content that Arabica.

Give me a cup of coffee made from organically grown Arabica any day.

    Does it matter?

Its all about the taste. I don't find top of the line coffee beans to taste any better myself.
