This is how you get people to stop using mass transit.

Just because you believe in zero rules doesn't mean other places do...

The rule was posted, he ignored it AND a simple warning... is that the society you want??

Spending money on that instead of on helping the feds get rid of of people who are here illegally and who cannot legally immigrate here because of their economic status.

He should have just pooped on the sidewalk & then setup a tent.

That is perfectly acceptable behavior in California these days.

At least 30% of those in the Bay Area vote Republican.

Maybe that's the issue right there..
By eating a sausage mcmuffin at the train stop it makes the people who don't have a sausage mcmuffin feel bad and as we all know feelings are more important than rights.

You can't eat on the subway in DC, either. Imagine how unsanitary the trains (which are already not the most germ free environments) would get. I believe we had a teen arrested for not giving up his food a few years ago. (I think we should just fine people.) Exceptions should be made for babies and anyone 3 and under but I generally agree that eating in the subway should not be allowed.

I think you should let people eat.. and actually clean the trains..

    It's not rocket science.

Its like the dark ages, when men and women lived in Roman ruins, vaguely aware that at some prior point,

men had been able to make such buildings and cities-but nobody knew how to do it.

    Yup..

Why is it that we so quickly lose sight of the fact that the government and those working in it are our slaves. Not the other way around. Laws against eating on trains is simply symptomatic of much bigger problems.

If the stubborn gentleman would have just given up his name it would have gotten us a small ticket and we would have moved on.

If the stubborn gentleman would have just put the food away when asked the first time we would have moved on with nothing happening.

as far as I can tell, it's the stubborn gentleman that is the issue.

As far as i can tell the stupid law is the problem. You can't regulate when and where people can eat in public.

Would you like to pay for this maid service, for the hazardous removal of debris from train tracks and for replacement of damaged seats and infrastructure. It's also a safety hazard for commuters, if people spill drinks and someone slips off the platform in front of a train.

It attracts birds who poop on the platform and more vermin. No, the subway is not like Amtrack. People aren't generally riding all day. Arrange your meals so that you eat breakfast, ride for about an hour, and eat again when you reach your destination, if you must. It's a public transit service, not a restaurant or resort. It's not rocket science.

Don't opperate trains you can't afford to maintain after normal human usage.

Which brings up an interesting point... If you are given a warning for eating a breakfast sandwich, and X minutes later, you are still eating, WTF is up with that? They aren't that big, unless he had multiple items...

But we in total agreement here... this is primarily on the offender, not the law... Just shove the rest of it in your mouth and move on with your life..

I imagine California is most grateful for the wisdom of people that have never been to California, never lived in a major metropolis, or Just feel duty bound to slam a blue state. Live in a crowded urban are with public transportation and you will have rules to maintain the law and infrastructure. Folks living in New York don't have much to offer Milbank, S.D. in the way of useful advice so they mostly don't go there. The Milbank populations seem much more generous in their critiques in the other direction.

Laws against eating are unreasonable. Laws against littering are not.

Good law and once again someone who doesn't believe the law applies to them nor that police have authority to enforce the law. People eating in such areas throwing their trash on the ground not only makes the place trashy but attracts rats and mice and feral cats and stinks up the place. This guy turned arrogant and belligerent when the officer told him he could not eat in that area. He could have just received a warning.

I believe they are called transit police and are there to specifically enforce such laws.
