It "resolves" the problem of an Omniscient God and Free Will.

God already knows who will and won't be saved, Free Will (as it relates to salvation) is false.

As is discussed, if we have Free Will then God can't be Omniscient, and therefore "isn't God" because it would mean He is not all-knowing and limited in His vision. Any "limit" on God...removes his characteristic as a "Supreme" Being.

Any aspect of the future could be changed by Man's Free Will. This is especially difficult to resolve for those who believe God makes prophecies about the future.

Either God's prophecies are unchangeable, and thus there is no Free Will. Or they can be changed by Free Will, and thus God's prophecies are meaningless and impotent.

Calvinism "fixes" that by simply declaring God omniscient and Free Will an illusion.
