In light of the insane, delusional idiots who say that criticism of Ilhan Omar is violence directed at her, without giving any explanation! :rofol:

The left believe ANY criticism towards ANY brown colored lefty is RACISM.

That is all they are. Identity politics is the only thing democrats promote, the only way they seduce their masses and they only issues they cling to.

So it's no wonder we have large swaths of people coming out of those institutions of lower living, better known as universities that truly believe any view that opposes their views is RACISM.

Speech alone generally isn’t violence but it could be reasonably called violent if it is intimidating, threatening, inciting or otherwise potentially harmful.

Note that I’ve no idea about the statements which apparently inspired this thread, just offering some general linguistic information. English can be hard.

Are you not aware of Trump's tweeted video which included Omar's words and footage from 9/11 and the insane reaction to it calling it violent?

So that means that they think that this kind of speech is violence?

Not at all. It’s worth remembering I’m not American but I don’t think that kind of stuff is important in general (though how people react to it can be). I didn’t need to know to answer your question, it could even be an advantage in getting a straight answer.

Apparently. At least when it's aimed at Nazis. My guess is when it's aimed at Omar, all of a sudden it's no big thing.

    It's Trump's favorite thing.

One guy has been arrested for death threats on the phone. Phone's are serious, too.

    United States free speech exceptions
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_free_speech_exceptions

In Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire (1942), the Supreme Court held that speech is unprotected if it constitutes "fighting words".[30] Fighting words, as defined by the Court, is speech that "tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace" by provoking a fight, so long as it is a "personally abusive [word] which, when addressed to the ordinary citizen, is, as a matter of common knowledge, inherently likely to provoke a violent reaction".[31] Additionally, such speech must be "directed to the person of the hearer" and is "thus likely to be seen as a 'direct personal insult'".[32][33]

“True threats of violence” that are directed at a person or group of persons that have the intent of placing the target at risk of bodily harm or death are generally unprotected.

So his followers ignore it because his tweets are so stupid? I don't think so. He parrots them, they parrot him.

Speech can incite violence, especially when it emanates from a head of state.

Interestingly, Chaplinsky was arrested for calling someone a "damned fascist".

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaplinsky_v._New_Hampshire

So since you support this ruling, are you saying that calling someone a fascist should be illegal fighting words?

Not with her peers. In the end, the left's greatest fear is being ostracized from their peers. Not being invited to "the parties." That will happen if any fo them are found to be agreeing with conservatives about ANYTHING.

That, is why we get into absurd debates about the use or misuse of damn PRONOUNS!
