We can't have a redux of the madness of King George. The danger is too great if the prez is not of sound mind. The power of the presidency is too immense. It is essential for the country (and the world) to have absolute confidence in his/her ability to carry out his/her duties. The prez must exhibit a full grasp of reality at all times. It must never waiver. Failing to do so is immediately disqualifying to remain in office. So far so good?

Then what is to be done when the prez openly expresses the fantastical belief he won the most recent election in a landslide? And not for the lack of readily obtainable information in contradiction of said belief.

Answer, there's a provision in the Constitution to remedy such a situation should it arise. Regrettably, the VP is too meek or too cowed to utilize it.

Therefore, isn't it a gross dereliction of responsibility for the only governmental institution empowered to remove a mentally compromised prez not to try to do so?

Disagreeing with the ultra liberal left is akin to "madness" only in the eyes of the ultra liberal left.

I'm trying to understand your meaning. Is it you think it's okay for the POTUS to hold delusional beliefs? If so, why?

The Trump is not delusional. It knows what it is doing, but like everything else it does, it is very bad at it.

It had to know that it was very unpopular and was unlikely to win re-election. In order to win, it took two basic strategies. The first was to discredit its opponent, like it did in 2016. It got caught and impeached for extorting the Ukraine in that effort. Not to be deterred, it came back with its Hunter Biden laptop silliness that went nowhere.

The Trump has been claiming the election was rigged, all its political life. All last summer it did everything in its power to restrict voting, even attempting to dismantle the Post Office. As predicted, the Trump was handily beaten in the election. Its only path to remaining in power was to discredit the election and win on a technicality. It tried repeatedly to find a court who would go along with its plan but could find none, clearly its hopes of Right wing courts supporting it went down in flames. Then it tried to convince state legislators, election officials, and governors to invalidate elections or to “find” it a few extra votes. Or to send alternate electors. Obviously it did not have that great a loyalty of state officials, even among diehard conservatives.

Its latest effort was to disrupt the certification of the election, to force Congress to declare it the winner. Even though there were plenty in Congress willing to play along, it wasn’t enough to change anything.

Now the Trump is down to its last hope of political survival. The mad rush of its most fanatical followers

So, behind door #1 we have a delusional POTUS who believes he won the election in a landslide.

Behind door #2 we have a prez who attempted to seize power even though he knew he lost the election.

Not great choices. Both are impeachable.

I agree very much with what you've posted.

Yes, being an old white guy myself, I'm sick of having POTUS be an old white guy loosing touch with reality.

Are you describing Trump or Biden?

Only one of the two maintains the delusional belief he won the election.

Unfortunately you may have to be more specific for some of these guys , as to who is the one that has the delusional belief he won.

It could be argued that both hold that delusion, but of course only 1 can be right.

Sadly, both are senile old men with closets full of skeletons.

I fail to understand how in a nation of three hundred and thirty million people, the best we could come up with was Hilary, Trump and Biden.

The only explanation is that our sleazy duopoly has failed miserably. It has led to endemic corruption and rule by special interests, an oligarchy. It is intellectually and morally bankrupt, yet the beat goes on.

Ban lobbying and money in the elections and then the farmers can run for office.

    1. It costs a billion dollars to run.
    2. Unless you're so squeaky clean, they can't even find a parking ticket, you are going to get hounded for every flaw.
    3. Even if you are squeaky clean, everything you say will be taken completely out of context.

That's the top three of many similar reasons. Smart people with common sense who are also honest, uncorrupt able, patriotic and not married to an ideology simply don't exist. If they do, why in the heck would they run for office?

That may be the most egregious false equivalence I've seen in weeks.

A perfect example of a smart, honest, able and patriotic person running for the office is Tulsi Gabbard, but others over the years include Ron Paul and others.

Those sort of upstanding and responsible people are rejected by the corrupt system.

    False equivalence?

You have two nearly senile white guys with closets full of skeletons and you call it a false equivalence?

What would you require for it to be a real equivalence? That they be twin brothers?

I've voted for Ron Paul every time I could. Also, Ross Perot.

In addition to Tulsi Gabbard, I'd also say I'm growing fond of Nikki Haley.

I too voted for Ron Paul about 3 times in my life. I read somewhere today that now he has been banned from I think FB. I don't do FB or any of the social media sites.

I disagree with you regarding Haley.

I did not like her performance as UN Ambassador. She comes across as an Israel First sort of person.

Depends on the beliefs does it not? Trump has thrown in the towel give it a rest. Time to start worrying about the racists Biden is appointing to positions of authority

Repeating the same false equivalence doesn't make it less egregious. Both are white, both are in their seventies. The comparison stops there.

Mr. Atwater, I would lose my sleep if I were you. After all, desperate Trump could lose his **** and start a nuclear war just to punish Dems and out of outright evil vengence.

I say, go get your guns and assasinate him now. :psychoitc: You will be a hero!
Oh you leftist are hillarious. One week to go and you're losing your mind.:D

P.S. The asasination proposal was a joke if someone didn't het it. :juggle:
