Trudeau should not have any armed guards then. since self defense is no longer a right in canada, politicians should eschew guards with guns

When liberals tell you they do not wish to ban all guns they are lying to you.

American liberals are looking at this action with envy

Canada's government moves to make selling or importing handguns illegal
Updated May 30, 20228:22 PM ET

Bill Blair, minister of emergency preparedness, said Canada is very different from the United States.

"In Canada, gun ownership is a privilege not a right," Blair said. "This is a principal that differentiates ourselves from many other countries in the world, notably our colleagues and friends to the south. In Canada, guns are only intended to be used for hunting and sport purposes."

Canada has had far fewer mass shootings than the U.S. in part because of a lack of easy access to guns, though the U.S. population also is far larger than Canada's.

I think you're afraid that it might succeed without all your anarchy fantasies.

    And they are all DEAD!

Yet we have dozens of democratic countries with sensible gun policies and healthy economies that rarely, if ever, experience our brand of gun-inspired violence.

Canada doesn't want to stop with just the sale of handguns.

This is only the first step for them.

Once they do this, everyone knows it will then make it easier to ban the other guns.

Attack gun rights in piecemeal fashion, "salami tactics", slice by slice.

Most all of them Whiter than the United States. What a coincidence that is, that they are all White English-speaking or Western European, or Chinese/Japanese/Korean ethnicity.

Good point Lucifer. First : CDA is actively DOING SOMETHING TANGIBLE. There will always be those that oppose for whatever reasons they have.

And yes........ if it works....(and why shouldn't it?)...........that would scare e very gun enthusiast (and fanatic ) to bits

But in many ways the two are very different cultures. CDA has violence......but it does not seem to be dramatized the way in this country. Nor is violence sensationalized to the same degree it is in this country.

And yes.... gun ownership is a privilege in CDA.........as opposed to aright. There is no need for it to be a "right".( that might be the core of the issue in this country(............ an obsessions with rights to the point of being narcissistic. There are more important humanitarian rights we should focus on in developed nations Humanity must evolve beyond the notion of wars and weapons and find intelligent humane ways of resolving issues. ....complex as they can be.

It might be time...long overdue to examine why this culture is so violence oriented. This culture has been conditioned / programmed with violence. It is time to evolve beyond that basic level. Also time to decrease the glorification of weapons...../ violence. Overdosing on violent video games is not healthy either. The days of the wild west are over......but have been romanticized and glorified to the extreme .

Take a look at what goes on in other countries. This could be the future of what will in your country, someday not too far off.

The Canadian Prime Minister, Trudeau, is getting legislation passed that will ban the sale of all handguns in the country, and even banning the sale of toy guns that are in the shape of handguns! Can't let those children grow up thinking handguns are normal.

In addition to that, gun owners will be forced to modify all their rifles at their own expense to make it only possible for the gun to hold 5 rounds.

Trudeau wasn’t making any effort to hide his disdain for the idea of firearms being used as a means of self-defense. During a press conference, he explained that such an idea was simply not applicable to Canada.
“Other than using firearms for sport shooting and hunting, there is no reason anyone in Canada should need guns in their everyday lives,” Trudeau told reporters at a briefing.

It seems that CDA is not the violent nation that the US is.

If this is CDA choice.......so be it.......it has nothing to do with how guns are managed in the US..........as there is a totally different weapons philosophy ..............and as we all know....ANOTHER mass shooting this week.

Seriously ???!!! at some point it is ridiculous / insane and the self defense argument" doesn't wash.

Instead of dealing with the social issues that are reaching critical mass.......... folks just buy more weapons. When with this country get fed up with being so afraid so they feel so insecure that they have to stock up on weapons?? What is wrong with security systems??

It is probably too late.....as guns and violence are in the country's DNA. Not so for other nations. Nations in a chronic state of war are the only ones that can be compared to this country''s weapons numbers...........which is staggering...

Trudeau's' policy is not hurting anyone. Some might not like it. Well.........too bad.........this is for a much greater god.

Most Latin American countries have higher gun murder rates than the US does.

What are they going to do if Canadian gun owners say "Fook you, eh? No".

    Interesting.
Can you demonstrate the necessary relationship between the gun policies in those countries and their lower rates of mass shootings?
