I'm stumped. Normally, I can do most maintenance myself but I have met my match with the latest issue involving the A/C in my vehicle. Here are the conclusions I've reached based on my diagnostics: The pressure in the lines is good The Clutch to the compressor is working The A/C belt is in good working order The cabin air filter is a little over a year old and should be fine (I'm not taking that thing out if I don't have to) Fan is working All related fuses passed a continuity check I was wondering if there is anything else I missed. I'm down to two possibilities, either the compressor itself is bad or the A/C heater blend door actuator is busted. The terrible thing about those two options is how much work would go into fixing them, the former would require a section of the engine to be torn apart (along with the entire A/C system) while the latter would require the dashboard to be completely dismantled. If it matters, the vehicle is a 2012 Ford Focus.
Dumb question- are you testing the pressure while the system is running and at operating temperature?
Yeah. Put the gauges on, started the car, and let it run for a while. Always stayed in the acceptable range.
bad pressure switch? I would guess the switch is 'downstream' of where you check the pressure, and if so, then the pressure would still test good in the system even when the switch is bad ...but I'm guessing. at the very least it seems like a more simple thing to try before moving to the more expensive/pita options.
