The socialism of command economics can be our salvation.

Be reserving means tested welfare for those for whom merely solving for a simple poverty of money, may not be enough; we can "concentrate wealth" to solve some of our most pressing health concerns, at the same time.

For the rest, unemployment compensation that clears our poverty guidelines simply for being unemployed on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States, should be enough.

there are people motivated by higher wages, but those aren't the most productive people to do the jobs.

a surgeon motivated by money will not be as good at saving lives as one who does their job to help others.

crony capitalism rewards the former because it sees money as the only motivator for quality work. real capitalism rewards those who take pride in their work first, and do it for the money secondly.

very true! Capitalism is about love. A capitalist who loves his products and wants to share them with others will be far better at pleasing his customers than someone in it just for the money!!

I had to chuckle when I was deleting some old threads from my watch list and saw this last post.

WHO? is motivated by a lower wage?
If you have worked many years for a company and someone who would be more productive and willing to work for less applies for your job, would you leave without complaint?
Surgeons who have a good record of success usually are able to command a higher price for their services.
Crony capitalism, or simply cronyism is a system by which someone in a position of power, business or political, rewards and makes use of those who can be most trusted to advance his/her agenda with the least amount of conflict. Politicians, regardless of party or leaning, whose election/re-election campaigns depend greatly on donations generally are more accessible to their largest donors, and their needs to assure continuing future support/donations. Cronyism in the business world, if overdone can lead to bankruptcy. Government on the other hand cannot go bankrupt, or so we have been led to believe.

You are stating this like China is just giving the things they produce. They don't, they trade them for our western Euros and Dollars which they in turn can spend on thing the west produces more efficiently than they do.
