I don’t really care what partisan label they use, I care about what they vote for, and this individual is voting for atoms that the left typically support that against atoms that the right typically do.

Personally, I am ecstatic that he represents neither party. He will local likely vote for what is just and not ideological.

Well you said they have a Democrat mayor, they do not. They have an independent and only a Democrat one out of the four last ones.

    Ok
How many republicans in the last three?

Does that indicate Republicans are losing strength in what is historically a very red city in a very red state?

in the last 4 1 Rep, 1 Dem, 2 Independents. Does that indicate Dems are losing strength?

    4 does not equal 3

In the last 3 there have been 2 independents that vote center left and one Democrat. If you expand it to the last 5 it adds two republicans. For an area of the country that is +12 pts or more typically favoring the right, yes — this absolutely indicates a shift left.

Aside from the off topic discussion, I think it also means that Liberal cities are finding their tax and spend governments will eventually result in less jobs and less tax revenue. They will eventually turn more red fiscally or they will end up like Detroit, Baltimore or any other Urban metro that has chosen high taxation over job creation.

Strange then that most of the wealthy very large cities with massive fiscal surpluses are blue. Come to think of it they all are.

    Which has already been explained.
I am perfectly fine with blue states reaching equilibrium with red states as there are more Democratic voters than their are Republican voters.
