I can't speak for other Texans... neither can you.

However, Bush did invite Putin and his wife to visit Bush's Crawford Ranch [near Waco, Texas]

For a moment in time, Putin was 90 miles south of me :)

She was very young in that pic.
She was quite a small cat though.

I'm convinced she was a reincarnation of her namesake.
Born about 3 miles from the Iceni capitol at Caistor St Edmonds or Venta Icenorum as the Romans called it.
A flame haired Norfolk warrior queen.

This is "Kitty" doing what she does best.

    Big cat!
    Kitty.jpg
I took her in a few years ago to "foster"
a pregnant cat & expected kittens.
She looked like she swallowed a bowling ball.
Re Shapped on Science Diet Chicken Dry KITTEN
    food.
When I share her bed, she snuggles at waist level,
purring loudly then separates after 10 - 30 minutes
    Thoughts of fostering ended when
Pretty boy fell in love with her and they

    Kitty&Pretty-Boy.jpg

sometimes wrestle - who can flip the other
sometimes nap together and now after years
    try cat sex at 5AM.
    It doesn't last long.

Kitty use to look like she swallowed a bowling ball
and improved on "Kitten" cat food.
Higher protein. Higher fat. Lower carbs.

Here's two of our four. We love both dogs and cats, but only have cats because we travel so much. It would be cruel to do that to a dog. Cats are like, "Meh - I'll make you suffer when you get home, but go do you." We love how the cats get angry when we cheat on them with other cats, or a dog.

(To whomever said cats were for sedentary people; uh, not exclusively.)

The big guy, Gizmo, is a compulsive eater. He starts worrying about wet food at 2 in the afternoon. Food is distributed around 6. As soon as he's done, he begs for more food until about 9. Poor thing has a very long day of worrying about his next meal. (A meal he totally doesn't need.)

The little guy, Loki, is aptly named. We call him Mr. Bitey Pants.

I love Main Coons. Such majestic creatures. Is the cat huge, or is forced perspective making me see giant paws?

We have eight cats. They are all totally different. We agree with TS Elliott's assessment in "The Naming of CATS" and resultant Broadway Show... all cats are different and distinct personalities. They are:

Abbott and Costello - Abbott is the HMFIC (Head Male Feline In Charge).. the leader, father, protector, and big brother of the group... Costello is his brother.. a love sponge that loves shoulders and will chew on your hair... when it comes to playing, Abbott just doesn't get it about toys, but he's still a love bug

Laverne and Shirley - Laverne, although spayed, is the sexpot of the group, constantly caressing and licking the heads and necks of the boys.... Shirley, her sister is just a soft, loving idiot

Einstein - Big and burly, he is my wife's cat... constantly seeking to sleep in her lap..

Schnoz - dainty and stuck at the size of a kitten, she is our "Princess"... she cries and demands attention when bored... which is rare ... she has the energy level of a nuke and constantly practices gymnastics... needs a lap to sleep soundly (her name is from her face... her nose is normal but the coloring makes it look larger)

Gabby - constantly meowing and making noise looking for attention, he's only calm and relaxed when comfortably nestled with one of his humans in bed or in an overstuffed chair...

Blondie - A new addition from our back yard, a beautiful blonde who is still learning to be comfortable with us. She hides behind the couch and only comes out for the litter box and for food and water. (Our Schnoz started out this way.)

    Our previous cats included:
    - Tiger - who was my wife's cat before we were married. He made it obvious I was a usurper and not
welcome. ... Until my wife went to bed and then he'd jump in my lap and snuggle
    - PC - named after the Priority Club at the Holiday Inn in Barstow, CA where we found her under a bush
when we stopped there on a trip to Las Vegas. PC was pure affection and love. She died of cancer after a
    full and happy life.)
    - Moose - a beautiful long haired Maine Coon, we found him on our porch one night, his throat open from a
fight with some other animal ... we took him to a vet and nursed him back to health... he was old and only
lasted a year but were happy we could make his last year a happy one

Dog people want or need the attention. There are also people that are afraid of cats.

I help with a small cat rescue and foster or have fostered many cats. They are much different from each other than dogs are.

In 2014 I had to put my great friend down too... she had cancer too. We had so many great years together. Then she got sick. She spent her last day hiding under a bed. When she finally came out she was shaking with pain and fear. She looked at me and I'll never forget the "Help me daddy" look she had. My wife had the strength to help me take her to the vet to put her down. I would have fought for one more day and only prolonged her pain. I miss her still.
