That's the problem, data is flawed as it doesn't take into account the highest debt shown on the Bankruptcy document, and, there are no facts other than many bankruptcies "list" a medical debt, whether that debt be $100.00 or more; the amount is not important in any of the studies documented. Given most health care providers, including hospitals are willing to negotiate a payment plan; it is more likely that debts to other lenders who are unwilling to negotiate an affordable payment plan are the reason that the individual can't afford to repay any secondary debts, such as medical debts which are not treated as loans.
