We did not backstab the Kurds.

Some are allies, some are commie terrorists who kill civilians.

The kurds span many nations, and only a few are being targeted by Turkey-the ones lobbing artillery shells across the syrian border into turkish towns.

The Turks (our nato ally) have decided to defend their own nation by denying the few kurds that are commie terrorists a region to attack Turkey.

If you want to discuss Kurd allies, look at the Peshmerga, not the commie terrorists you are making excuses for here.

All the ceasefires in Syria have been like this, you still get artillery, mortars and some tit for tat fighting. They are mostly used by the offensive force to regroup, and resupply. A five day ceasefire is not very long and is practically almost over. Kurds had to give up a lot, the Syrian government got all the Kurds land back that matters in NE Syria.

 

As I said, time will tell. The language from Turkey allows them to change at will.

 

I see no evidence of America having valuable allies in the ME except Israel.

The 5 days wasn't meant for the Kurds to leave, but allow for Syrian troops to move in.

Syrian troops enter northern towns and villages, setting up a potential clash with Turkish-led forces

 

Which BTW, Turkey and Syria have no elegance to each other, however Syria and Russia do and Turkey and Russia do. I think the Kurd's saved their own bacon... However at the expense of being part of Assad's militia now.

It sounds like there were some sporadic hostilities which is how ceasefires along a large front typically go.
