This is something that I’d never even expect.
Chalking a tire is a search? What do you think?

Seems to be a stretch. I'm sure they will just go higher tech such as a time stamped photo.

I wonder if they will apply the same 'logic' to prevent an officer placing a parking ticket under the windshield wiper?
But it would seem that they only chalk the tires to show how long someone has been parked in say; a 2 hour limit space. Answer; install parking meters instead. No need to mark the tires then.

    Who knows?
In Minnesota they installed red light cameras about 10 years ago. In less than a year those cameras were deactivated because local Supreme Court ruled that its unconstitutional to punish the owner of the car if police cannot prove that the owner was driving it.
In Chicago red light cameras are pretty much city’s cash cow and is perfectly legal. I wonder if these cameras legality will ever be tested in SCOTUS.

Why not just challenge the red lights as an impediment to your right to free movement?

I've chuckled seeing Melbourne meter-maids chalking tires, and chuckled even more, seeing office rats running out wiping chalk of the tires with the sleeves of their suits. True story :oldman:

In the Netherlands, citizens got pissed after the traffic cameras were installed, hidden from the view of motorists. So now, all the traffic cameras are installed where they can be spotted from far, brightly colored in red and blue.
