Chickenshit way of living life and accepting death. The happy ending is his body can not lay claim to a National cemetery here in the states. Self inflected misery.

Snip: In later interviews, he said he decided to abandon his unit and defect to the North, fearing he would be killed during a patrol or be sent to fight in the Vietnam War, the BBC reported. He was among four Americans to defect to North Korea in the 1960s.

Didn't know about this guy before reading this.

But 25 days in prison for desertion and aiding the enemy??

    Am I reading this correctly?

That's some Obama level traitor pandering bullshit right there.

Are we sure this scum didn't also get a free sex change out of the deal?

The problem with the draft is that war is most often ordered by men who never served themselves.
To this day, not a single person has given a valid reason why Vietnam was a necessary war. Hell, even WW2 was not a necessity as Europe needed to deal with her own problems.

There's some truth here. America was EXTREMELY divided in the late 30's over going to war against Germany. I still believe we'd been in the war anyway however. Japan bombing Perl Harbor pretty much sealed the deal. So while we might not have been fighting in Europe, we would have been at war during that period.
