The point is, when a minority, woman, or handicapped person is conservative, he gets no special treatment, in fact, he/she might be treated worse by liberals and mocked.

For example, look at the liberals' sexist and misogynistic attacks on Sarah Palin, which were totally over the top. She was attacked because her daughter had a baby out of wedlock, which would never be done to a man. She was also attacked for having a handicapped child and not aborting him, which would never be done to a man.

And liberal commentators are quite often calling conservative women (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)es and sluts, without any sort of consequences.

And the new black Senator of South Carolina was called a "token" by the liberal New York Times, again without consequences.

Proving that liberals are the real racists, sexists and homophobes (yes conservative gays also get the treatment).

 

Some may fixate upon Charlie's physical limitations or his frequent aberrant political prognostications (as I have done myself in posting here a Fox classic, his wacky prediction of an imminent Willard presidential victory when no informed person was conceiving of such a thing,) but anyone who casts him as a dyed-in-the-wool, dogmatic rightist does him a serious disservice.

He was a cheerleader for the Bush's invasion of Iraq, yet accurately characterized that trillion-dollar nation-building caprice, noting that "reformation and reconstruction of an alien culture are a daunting task. Risky and, yes, arrogant." - and this on the eve of Bush's attack, when most conservatives were still actually swallowing the "DubyaMD Stockpiles" mularkey.

Krauthammer is a supporter of legalized abortion; an opponent of the death penalty; an intelligent design critic and an advocate for the scientific consensus on evolution. Max Cleland receiving plaudits for being a celebrated war hero and elected office holder is a disparate matter, of course. Politicians endorse candidate all the time, and there is no reason for you to single him out to serve your agenda.

I've seen that guy several times on Fox News and I was unaware of that. In retrospect, his labored breathing was reminiscent of Christopher Reeve, however, kudos to him for not crying victim.

 

The nation has clearly progressed since the days of FDR, and his paralysis is common knowledge, but most don't make an issue of it. This thread is the exception.

His daffy prognostications concerning a Willard presidential victory when every rational analyst knew otherwise is indicative of his fictive disposition. For all its gross inaccuracy, it certainly had the appeal of novelty and was, ultimately, a bit of harmless buffoonery. He really is a colleague of Homer Simpson as far as Rupert's agenda is concerned.

Like the "colour man" in televised games or the quirky sports columnist, entertaining a sufficient audience with his musings from the sidelines is his proper role.
